📋 About This Mod
Grand Solitude is hands down fantastic. It is the solitude mod for me in my current build. However, in my game I also want to keep magic and supernatural stuff down, to keep it special and fantastical, rather than everyday occurrences in your face. So here's a quick little patch to keep the battlemages from practicing and the dead king from strolling around in the castle. That's it folks, unless I missed something.
Check out my other Grand Solitude patch:
- Grand Solitude - eFPS patch
A small patch for the Grand Solitude city overhaul that removes the practicing battlemages and the ghost king from Solitude's castle, keeping magic and supernatural elements out of the city. For players who want a more grounded Skyrim experience while using Grand Solitude. 72 endorsements, last updated October 2025.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tightly scoped patch that does exactly what it says—no more magic spam in Solitude
- Community-tested with 72 endorsements and over 11k downloads, so it's proven stable
- Pairs well with other Grand Solitude patches from the same author, like the eFPS patch
⚠️ Cons
- Requires Grand Solitude as a dependency, so it's useless without that mod
- Only affects the castle area—if you wanted to remove magic elsewhere, this won't help
- Potential conflicts with other mods that alter Solitude's NPCs or AI packages
For Skyrim players who love Grand Solitude but want to keep magic rare and special, not everyday. If you're doing a low-fantasy or realism playthrough, this patch is a must. Skip if you don't use Grand Solitude or don't mind the ghost king wandering around.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure Grand Solitude is installed first, then drop this patch after it in your load order.
- If you use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, let it handle the file placement to avoid overwriting issues.
- Check the mod page for the eFPS patch if you also use that performance mod—they're designed to work together.
