Gastropods are amphibious mollusks. Like spiders and mud crabs, they are widely distributed all throughout Tamriel and can grow into enormous sizes. However, most of them are herbivorous and generally are peaceful unless provoked.

They will engulf their attackers in slime, making escape difficult. They house enormous shells that they use to live and to protect themselves from the elements and predation. Their shroud of mucus armor can help absorb the shock and penetration of arrows and their round sturdy shells also have a chance to deflect arrow-based attacks.

Giant gastropod shells are quite strong and durable and can be used as a substitute for creating chitin armor. Their slime also has alchemical properties.
