📋 About This Mod
FYX - Alpha Blood Blending Bug is a mod created by Yuril that fixes a Skyrim bug where blood effects do not appear on meshes using alpha blending (types 4845/4333), such as rocks or cliffs. These meshes override blood decals, making them invisible.
🇫🇷 Born from a collaboration between Yuril and myself, this "NG" version is built on a standalone SKSE DLL, with no ESP or plugin, and is compatible with all versions of the game. It dynamically applies the fix to all affected textures, across all mods, right from game launch. No more manual patches: the fix is clean, global, and automatic.
When the game starts, the SKSE DLL runs automatically and scans all of the game's ImpactData entries. These entries are used to handle visual effects tied to impacts, like blood, dust, sparks, but more importantly, they determine which decal is applied to a surface on impact. This is exactly where the bug occurs: if the decal uses a TextureSet with no Glow Map and it's applied to a mesh with alpha blending, it may not show up at all.
The DLL detects all TextureSets linked to blood (or impact) effects that lack a Glow Map, and automatically applies Yuril's fix to them. This fix consists of injecting a neutral Glow Map, which forces the game engine to render blood decals above alpha blended meshes, bypassing the usual render priority issue.
The process is entirely dynamic, meaning no permanent file edits, no plugin required, and full compatibility with any mod you have installed. As long as a mod follows standard game data structures, its blood effects will benefit from the fix instantly at runtime.
No more manual patches or custom ESPs. The fix is clean, lightweight, and completely invisible during gameplay.
This mod requires Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE64) to be installed (any version) and Address Library for SKSE Plugins in order to function.
The mod can be installed like any other mod using a mod manager or manually.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust: 2,383 endorsements and over 644k downloads
- Zero hassle: no ESP or manual patching, just install and forget
- Seamless integration: applies at launch, works with your mod list
⚠️ Cons
- Requires SKSE, so not for console or non-SKSE users
- Last updated May 2025 — check for compatibility with the latest Skyrim patch
- Only addresses blood decals on alpha meshes, not other visual bugs
For Skyrim modders who use alpha-blended meshes (like certain armor or creature mods) and notice blood decals not rendering correctly. If you're tired of invisible blood or weird smearing, this is a must-have. Skip if you're on console or don't use SKSE.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have the latest SKSE64 installed and launch the game through the SKSE loader, not the default launcher.
- Since it's a plugin, place it in your mod manager and let it overwrite any older versions of FYX if you have them.
- If you're using a mod list with many mesh replacers, this fix should work automatically—no need to adjust load order.
