📋 About This Mod
Mods Patched:
Dragonborn (vanilla DLC): Adds 4 fire types.
Campfire: Adds 11 fire types.
Embers XD: Adds 11 fire types. Note that this config file overwrites the one in Fire Hurts NG (my file provides 3 more fires than the original, as well as making the fire collision boxes larger).
Rain Extinguishes Fires: Adds 31 fire types.
Midwood Isle: Adds 1 fire type.
Project AHO: Adds 1 fire type.
Immersive Fort Dawnguard: Adds 1 fire type.
Markarth - Help the Warrens and A Cure for Cairine SE: Adds 3 fire types.
DynDOLOD: If you use DynDOLOD and EmbersXD, and your giant campfires don't burn you, try the new patch. If the patch still doesn't work, you may have to modify the formids in the patch to match the formids in your generated DynDOLOD.esm (convert the hex values in the plugin to decimal values in the patch file). Note that I set the danger radius wider than the actual fire because those bonfires are huge and very hot! In the future, DynDOLOD may be modified to automatically generate an updated JSON file for EmbersXD, so check first.
FAQ:
Q: What about other missing fires from other mods?
A: If you find missing fires from other mods, you can easily add them to the MiscMods.json file yourself. Just follow the format in the file and copy one of the larger fires (with 100. 0 for the fire boundaries) or one of the smaller fires (with 80. 0 for the boundaries). Note that the formids you see in the plugins need to be converted from hex to decimal.
Q: What if I don't have one of the listed mods?
A: It will still work, the original mod seems to disregard missing plugins.
Q: Hey, didn't you just copy the same lines with the same fire boundaries over and over? Will that still work well enough for the different fire sizes? That's just lazy!
A: Yes, yes, and yes.
Fire Hurts NG - Patches is a compatibility patch that adds fire collision data for 60+ fire types across popular Skyrim mods like Campfire, Embers XD, and Dragonborn. It ensures fires from these mods actually damage the player, with larger hitboxes for Embers XD. Ideal for players using Fire Hurts NG with these mods.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-trusted with 175 endorsements and over 12k downloads, so it's been tested by plenty of players.
- Covers a wide range of popular fire mods, so you don't have to hunt for individual patches.
- The DynDOLOD patch is a lifesaver for those giant bonfires that never burned you before.
⚠️ Cons
- Requires the base Fire Hurts NG mod to work, so it's not a standalone fix.
- The author admits to reusing the same fire boundaries for different fire sizes, which might not be perfectly accurate for all fires.
- DynDOLOD patch may need manual formid tweaking if your DynDOLOD output differs, which can be a hassle.
For Skyrim players who use Fire Hurts NG and want fire damage to work with mods like Campfire, Embers XD, or Rain Extinguishes Fires. If you're tired of walking through campfires unscathed, this patch makes them deadly. Skip if you don't use Fire Hurts NG or any of the listed fire mods.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install with a mod manager and make sure Fire Hurts NG is loaded before this patch so the overwrite works.
- If using DynDOLOD and giant campfires still don't burn you, check the patch's formids against your DynDOLOD.esm and convert hex to decimal.
- To add missing fires, edit MiscMods.json and copy an existing entry, adjusting the formid (convert hex to decimal) and fire boundary size.
