📋 About This Mod
Dead simple plugin replacer 1) disables the scripted leveled list and outfit record distribution, replacing it with actual records 2) removes the crafting book mechanism
This is a simple plugin replacer to do three things to make Fashions of the Fourth Era easier to mold to play nice in an extensively modded game:
-
[]Get rid of the scripted distribution and replicate the changes to leveled lists and NPC outfits in records, for transparent conflict resolution with other mods
[
]Get rid of the books in inventory dependent crafting to allow for consistency with other crafting frameworks (I don't like this personally but it's actually well done in the original and a valid preference so I'll give some brief steps on how to revert this later in this page) - Forward and integrate all changes from the Unofficial Patch (this will make USSEP a master; my apologies if you have an issue with USSEP)
Q. What is Fashions of the Fourth Era?
A. From Sforzinda's tumblr where they host the mod: "The majority of the outfits are based on Common Clothes and Brigandage by franklinzunge (optimized for SSE). However, almost all of the models have been re-done to tweak weighting, use vanilla textures wherever appropriate, and replace the Witcher assets with vanilla ones in order to fit better with Skyrim’s overall aesthetic. It also includes the results of my first forays into clicking random buttons in 3Ds Max, and creating outfits by accident."
Q. What's the catch?
A. Vanilla bodies only (how the clothes are rendered; you can still use CBBE or whatever but when clothed your NPCs may seem a bit corsetted before/after); some are mashups of multiple models (an armor and a clothing superimposed on each other, for example) which will load multiple (typically vanilla) textures so if you're using 4k vanilla replacers across the board your performance mileage may vary. For me these aren't serious downsides
Q. Why bother with all this instead of just installing Common Clothes & Brigandine?
A. Common Clothes is great and ready to go but because it is a compilation of assets stretching in some cases back to the early days of Skyrim modding, there are a few (to me) long in the tooth meshes and textures and I'd prefer something a bit more curated to complement best of breed stuff like WACCF Armor & Clothing Extension, Colovian Nobles Clothes.
Q. I like needing books in inventory to craft these items, especially since sforzinda implemented them in a thoughtful and immersive way.
A. if you're comfortable with X-Edit, do this: 1. rename my plugin replacer so that it can load in X-Edit at same time as original 2. activate both my version and the original 3. Set the original plugin as a master to mine 4. "Merge up" by injecting the Leveled List and NPC (not outfit - those are already there) records up into the original then copying as override - these are all "right clic
