Description
Evil Dead Trees swap trees around places considered 'evil' such as ruins filled with Hagravens or Vampire caves with their dead counterpart (TreePineForest01 to TreePineForestDead01 for example). I was inspired by Skyblivion's idea of storytelling using landscape design and thought it would be cool to do it within Skyrim as well. This mod only uses vanilla records so it will be affected by any tree mod you are using. Different tree mods will give different results. My screenshots were taken with T4gtr34um3r's Happy Little Trees and Picho ENB. Any screenshots and suggestions are welcome.
This mod has been automatically and manually cleaned with xedit. Any change by USSEP is forwarded to this mod but USSEP itself is not required. The mod is flagged as ESL so it will not take any space in your load order. A version utilizing Base Object Swapper is also available so the esp isn't needed.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust with 1,248 endorsements and over 672k downloads
- Asset-free means no performance hit from new textures or meshes
- ESL-flagged so it won't eat your load order slots
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in December 2022 — may not be compatible with the latest Skyrim updates or mods
- Only affects trees near evil places, so its impact is limited to specific areas
For Skyrim players who want a darker, more sinister atmosphere around dungeons and evil lairs without adding heavy assets. Perfect for those who already use Base Object Swapper and want a lightweight visual tweak. Skip if you're looking for major overhauls or don't care about environmental consistency.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're using the Base Object Swapper version, make sure you have Base Object Swapper installed and load this mod after it in your mod manager.
- Since it's ESL-flagged, you can safely add it to a large load order without worrying about plugin limits.
- Check the mod page for any patches or compatibility notes if you use other tree mods, as they might conflict.
