]If you are a mod author who wants to utilize this tool, read further.Dynamic Animation Framework SE (DAF) is an SKSE plugin that lets mod authors trigger custom animation chains when gameplay or UI events happen (pick up, drop, equip, open menus, etc.).
You add simple JSON files that say: “On event X, if the item/actor matches these filters, play these animations (in order).”
You can also register custom events via JSON files, and other mods can trigger these.
It is also possible to attach the 3D models of the items you want to your animations.
More info can be found in the wiki.
Compatible with both SE (1. 5. 97) and AE (1. 6. 1170). Not sure about VR.
Dynamic Item Mesh Attachment
One of the most powerful features of DAF is its ability to attach real 3D item models directly to animations.
Works like a built-in AnimObject Swapper, but more advanced.
Instead of using predefined static anim objects, DAF dynamically reads the actual mesh of the item.
This means animations can show the real object being picked up, dropped, traded, equipped or anything you can imagine.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solid community backing with 439 endorsements and over 91k downloads
- Actively maintained, last updated July 2026
- Opens up huge possibilities for custom animations without heavy scripting
⚠️ Cons
- Requires SKSE, so it's PC-only and needs the Script Extender installed
- Aimed at mod authors, so casual users won't see direct benefits unless they install dependent mods
- Potential compatibility issues with other SKSE plugins if not updated promptly after game patches
For mod authors and experienced players who want to create dynamic animation sequences tied to game events. If you're a player looking for ready-to-use animation mods, this is a framework you'll need other mods to utilize. Skip if you prefer plug-and-play content without tinkering with JSON files.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have the latest SKSE64 installed and matching your game version, as DAF relies on it.
- If you're a mod author, start by studying the example JSON files included in the mod to understand the event syntax.
- Test your animation chains in a clean save to avoid conflicts with other mods that alter the same events.
