Dragons have come forth from Alduin's might!
However, not all of these hellish beasts roam the skies.
Burrowing deep into the mountainsides, dragons guard their prize.
Will you vanquish them all? Or are you just Dragon-bait
Description
I made this mod so I'd actually fight dragons in dungeons. Adds a chance for a dragon to be hiding somewhere in each dungeon. It stays resting until it spots you, then roars and attacks like any normal dragon. Once one appears in a dungeon, it won't happen again in the same dungeon. Advanced detection to avoid collisions in dungeons. Spawn odds are adjustable in the "Dungeons & Dragons" MCM menu.
I always thought this game needed dragons in actual dungeons, and the logistics weren't that bad. It waits until there's a room large enough to fit a dragon inside without breaking the physics. Play with Rescue Missions or Spontaneous Outside Spawner for even better immersion. The next time you enter a room in a dungeon, check both sides. If you don't, a dragon might be hiding and bite your head off!
Installation instructions
Just install like a normal mod. Only has two requirements and they're probably already installed.
What it does
Every time you enter an interior dungeon cell, there's an adjustable chance (15% by default) that a dragon is lurking somewhere inside. If the roll hits, the game waits a random 3–8 seconds, then quietly searches the dungeon for a room with enough open floor space and headroom to actually fit a dragon. If it finds one, a vanilla dragon appears there — placed safely on the ground, never inside a wall or floor.
How the dragon behaves
-
[]It spawns neutral, not already alerted — it won't attack until it notices you the way any normal dragon would (sight/sound).[/]
[]It stays grounded — no flying around indoors, since there's no realistic way for a dragon to take off inside a dungeon.[/]
[]Once it notices you and engages, it lets out its normal roar and fights like any wild dragon.[/]
The "one per dungeon" rule
If a dragon spawns anywhere in a dungeon, that entire dungeon is done rolling for dragons — permanently, even across saves. This is tracked at the whole-dungeon level (not just the one room), so killing it and wandering into another room of the same dungeon won't trigger a second one. If the roll doesn't produce a dragon (an 85% miss, or the dungeon just didn't have a big enough room), nothing is locked — walking out and back in gives it a fresh chance.
Player control
An MCM menu named "Dungeons & Dragons" lets you adjust the spawn chance slider (0–100%) at any time, so you can make encounters rarer, more common, or turn them off/guarantee them for testing.
The underlying idea
It's meant to feel like a rare, atmospheric surprise — the sense that any dungeon you walk into might be housing something much bigger than the usual bandits and draugr, without ever needing a hand-built new location or a scripted quest to make it happen.
It makes the game a lot harder.
PLEASE, let me know if there are any bugs. I'd like to fix them. Thank you!
Requirements
Just the Address Library and SkyUI. It's built to support all versions SE and AE.
