Disconnecting the Transmundane

The problem with Discerning the Transmundane is that you are required to start it to progress with the Main Quest Elder Knowledge, or the Dawnguard Quest Seeking Disclosure, even if you have no intention of serving Hermaeus Mora. You then either end up with a quest stuck in your journal which you'll never complete, or you'll end up completing a quest you don't want to do.

With Disconnecting the Transmundane, that inconvenience is finally put to rest. The quest is split into two parts (both are still called Discerning the Transmundane):

• []The first part is a Favor Side Quest for Septimus Signus - retrieve the Elder Scroll from Blackreach and return it to him to get a Disposition boost (useful for Thane of Winterhold), and that's all you need to do. The first part of the quest will end there.

  []The vanilla courier note Letter from Septimus Signus (which is delivered after Level 15) now triggers a Miscellaneous Objective to return to him, and leads directly into the second part of the quest, which is the Daedric Quest for Hermaeus Mora. Reading the note will re-start the quest, so don't read it if you don't want it!

  []If you do read the note, there is currently no way to clear the Miscellaneous Objective without continuing the quest, but I might add that later.

    This mod edits numerous scripts, including DA04RuminationsScript, DA04SeptimusSignusLetterScript, and various dialogue Topic Fragments. It doesn't actually edit the Quest Fragments of DA04 Discerning the Transmundane (surprisingly enough), but compatibility is not guaranteed with anything else that edits these scripts, except those listed above.

    The mod must be installed before starting Discerning the Transmundane.
