📋 About This Mod
Currency Swapper is an SKSE framework that allows other mods to change the default currency of Skyrim. Currency swapper does this through the use of an SKSE plugin, eliminating any conflict and providing dynamic patching for UI consistency.
Examples of Mods:
-
[]M. I. N. T. - Mint Issued National Tenders[/]
[]Soul Cairn Actual Merchant[/]
[]Orc Currency[/]
Skyrim SE version 1. 6. 1130+
SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender)
Address Library for SKSE Plugins
If you are unsure what version of Address Library for SKSE plugins to get, get the 1. 6. X one. SKSE's version needs to match your game version's.

Mod Development Information
Currency Swapper aims to be as intuitive to use as possible, and everything can be done through Papyrus Scripts. To use the new functions, you need to first import SEA_BarterFunctions to your script like this:
Scriptname ExampleScript Extends Quest
Import SEA_BarterFunctions
Ideally, you want to use a quest to hold the script so you can also register for the events. The events provided by SEA_BarterFunctions can be used after you register for them, like this:
Scriptname ExampleScript Extends Quest
Import SEA_BarterFunctions
Event OnInit()
RegisterFormForAllEvents(Self)
This way, this form will be able to use any event in the SEA_BarterFunctions script. Do note that you need to re-register the form every time the game is loaded, since the registered forms are NOT saved in the DLL. Check out the vanilla OnPlayerLoadGame() event for an easy example on how to detect game loads.
Switching currencies is a lot simpler:
Currency Swapper is an SKSE framework that lets you change the game's currency on the fly, enabling merchants to accept specific objects as payment. With over 1,200 endorsements and 635k downloads, it's a popular utility for modders and players seeking custom economies.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust with 1,211 endorsements and 635k downloads
- Opens up new gameplay possibilities for custom economies
- Actively maintained, last updated May 2026
⚠️ Cons
- Requires SKSE, so not for console players
- No detailed documentation provided in the description
- May conflict with other mods that alter currency or merchant systems
For modders and players who want to create unique trading experiences, like barter systems using specific items. If you're into immersive economies or role-playing, this is a must-have. Skip if you prefer vanilla gameplay or don't use SKSE.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Ensure SKSE is installed and launched via skse_loader.exe, not the default launcher.
- Check the mod's forum or comments for examples of how to set up custom currency merchants.
- Test with a new save or after disabling other economy mods to avoid conflicts.
