📋 About This Mod
About
In JPSteel2's excellent Cities of the North - Falkreath mod, the model for the Gildergreen is used in the 'town centre' area. I preferred that the Gildergreen was kept as unique as possible, given its quest and lore, and so made this mod to replace it with a smaller, more generic tree.
I felt that a withered tree fit the vibe of Falkreath well (what with its big ol' graveyard) and gave it a slightly more sombre tone.
I disabled the Gildergreen , as well as the ropes hanging from it. In its place I added a different tree, some rocks, and some foliage matching the surrounding area.
This is a super small mod, with only a handful of records. I cleaned the mod manually in xEdit.
Last checked against version 1. 3 of Cities of the North - Falkreath.
Installation
I recommend installing this on a new save, I can't guarantee it will work as intended on an existing save.Requirements

Should be compatible with most mods, but I recommend checking yourself in xEdit. If you use a tree replacer that is radically different from vanilla, things might look a little strange.

This is a small compatibility patch for Cities of the North - Falkreath that swaps the Gildergreen tree for a smaller, generic one. It's for players who want a less conspicuous tree in that location. With 72 endorsements and 5,547 downloads, it's a niche but functional tweak.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Does exactly what it says: swaps the Gildergreen for a more subtle tree, no surprises.
- Decent download count (5,547) for a niche patch, so it's been tried by a fair number of players.
- Small file size and simple install, no extra dependencies beyond the base mod.
⚠️ Cons
- Only 72 endorsements, so it's not heavily vetted by the community—could have hidden issues.
- Purely cosmetic change, so if you like the Gildergreen, this is pointless.
- Compatibility risk: if Cities of the North - Falkreath updates, this patch might break until the author updates it.
For Skyrim players who use Cities of the North - Falkreath but find the Gildergreen too flashy or out of place. If you're a purist who wants a more vanilla-looking tree, this is for you. Skip if you're fine with the original tree or want more substantial changes.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have Cities of the North - Falkreath installed first, then drop this patch into your mod manager and let it overwrite the tree mesh.
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, enable this patch after the main mod to ensure it loads correctly.
- Check the mod's posts section for any user reports about compatibility with other Falkreath overhauls before adding it to your load order.
