📋 About This Mod
Short description:
There was a visual bug. I fixed it. No plugin. Refer to images.
Installation:
Get the requirements (if you don't have them already). Install this fix whenever. Make sure it overwrites HIMBO files. Rebuild in BodySlide.
How to find Briarheart in BodySlide? Find HIMBO Basegame Refits group, then type briarheart in the search bar of BodySlide window (top right).
The optional requirement from LoversLab enables normal looting when having SOS Full installed. It's a small ESL-flagged plugin. It flags the Briarheart armor as Revealing, so they will remain in their armor after you loot the heart off of them, instead of turning into a schlongless body.
Long description (how, what, why):
Did you know that Briarhearts don't actually have a body like all regular humanoid NPCs?
They only use an armor that consists of male body parts and a fur skirt. It has two versions: with heart in the hole behind the sticks (while Briarheart is alive), and without heart with broken sticks (when Briarheart is dead and looted).
I believe there used to be a missing body bug with Briarhearts in the base game, but I've never experienced it because I've always used USSEP.
USSEP applies its own fix to Briarhearts. It adds a third armor: a base "body" that only has a hole in its chest. The other two armors - "full" and "empty" - are instead only a heart object behind the sticks, and the broken sticks, both without the body model. In the USSEP plugin they are flagged as Amulet instead of Body, so the heart could be looted seamlessly while the base body remains.
HIMBO Refits for Briarheart bodies are made for the base game, so there are only two refits for the base two armors: "full body" and "empty body", which is why there's a conflict and we don't see the actual briarheart or its sticks at all. You can loot the heart normally, but you don't see it on the Briarheart.
I unpacked USSEP Briarheart meshes from its BSA, used them as the base and converted them properly to HIMBO. The file paths are the same so it properly overwrites the original HIMBO refits, with the addition of USSEP "empty body".
I fixed this for my own game, so I'm sharing it with you as well. Enjoy.
This bug fix resolves a mesh incompatibility between USSEP and HIMBO's vanilla refit of the Briarheart body/outfit, where the heart and sticks were invisible on both living and dead Briarhearts. It's a targeted fix for players using both mods together.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real visual bug that breaks immersion (268 endorsements)
- Tiny, focused fix—no bloat, just what it says
- Active community use (22,880 downloads) shows it's needed
⚠️ Cons
- Only relevant if you run both USSEP and HIMBO—otherwise useless
- Last updated in 2022, so might not cover newer game patches
- Potential conflicts if other mods alter Briarheart meshes
For Skyrim modders who use both USSEP and HIMBO and hate seeing invisible Briarheart hearts. If you don't run both mods, skip it—this fix does nothing for you.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Install with a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to avoid overwriting other mesh mods.
- Load order doesn't matter much, but place it after USSEP and HIMBO to ensure the fix applies.
- If you see other Briarheart mesh mods, let this one win the conflict to keep the fix active.
