The Bound Vanilla Armors mod adds a form of conjuration magic that allows mages to cast upon themselves full sets of magically created vanilla armor (Glass, Ebony and Daedric) to provide additional defense when needed. The armors weigh much less than their regular world armor counterparts and have more defensive points.

You can cast bound daedric armor and bound ebony armor as heavy armor, and bound glass armor as light armor. You need to have a medium level of magic to cast glass, a high level to cast ebony, and a very high level to cast daedric. You can purchase the spells randomly from the College of Winterhold or find spell tomes in the world, in warlock lairs, dungeons, etc. (spoiler: the Bound Daedric Set spell tome is in the Winterhold library, on the Orc guardian's desk, but it counts as stolen if you are not high-ranking in the faction. The Bound Ebony Set tome can be found in the Solitude court mage's quarters, and also in Nelacar's belongings in his room. The Bound Glass Set tome can be found in the Tel Mithryn Apothecary and in a small indoor area of Silent Moons Camp.)

You can cast alteration spells, such as ebony and stone flesh, on top of the bound armor to increase its protection. Bound armor lasts for 2 min and can be cast again, also to unequip it before the casting time ends, you just need to open your inventory and equip your regular common equipment.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

Bound Vanilla Armors adds conjuration spells that let mages summon full sets of vanilla armor, providing defense with much lighter weight than regular gear. A niche magic expansion for Skyrim players who want a convenient, weight-saving armor option without leaving the vanilla aesthetic.

✨ Key Features

Adds conjuration magic to cast full sets of vanilla armor on the caster
Summoned armors weigh much less than their regular world counterparts
Designed for the Special Edition and Anniversary Edition versions of Skyrim

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Solid community backing with 186 endorsements and over 5,200 downloads
  • Fits the vanilla aesthetic—no new models, just practical magic
  • Weight reduction is a real QoL win for mage builds that hate encumbrance

⚠️ Cons

  • Only covers vanilla armors, so no support for popular armor mods
  • Limited to self-cast—no way to gear up followers or allies
  • Potential conflicts with other conjuration overhauls that alter spell lists
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim mages who want a lightweight, lore-friendly way to gear up without smithing or carrying heavy armor. Also great for players who stick to vanilla armors and want a convenient defensive option. Skip if you're using heavy armor mods or expect new visual designs—this is purely functional.
