📋 About This Mod
Vanilla books and letters were originally 256, 512 and 1k resolution. I've cleaned them of compression artifacts and upscaled 4x, so now they're 1k, 2k and 4k resolution and OH MY GOD they look soooo much better. Even the 1k/512 option on this one is going to be a significant improvement over the originals.
I cleaned and upscaled them using Cupscale/ESRGAN and then finalized with Octagon, converting to BC7 compression with full mipmaps. This is a multistep process that takes a a significant amount of time for each individual file
Performance Options for Potato PCs
Mipmaps and BC7 compression reduce VRAM usage, especially when the files are cleaned of compression artifacts.
For Potato PCs, I've uploaded downscaled versions where the diffuse texture files are larger than normal and environment map files, which are less visible in game. This reduces VRAM usage considerably while maintaining higher visual quality, using the Octagon config files posted here.
Both are full versions, not requiring the main file.
Choose either:
2k/1k for Baked Potatoes
or
1k/512 for Mashed Potatoes
