oss Lady's successful life of crime suddenly fell into a complete shambles.  It happened the day that she ordered two of her roughnecks to capture a beautiful young woman.  Boss Lady was sure that the brazen hussy was a Blue Palace spy.

Her men had no idea that they were gagging and kidnapping a Nightingale whose name was Patience Kindle.  All they knew was that Boss Lady had just ordered them to capture her.

So they did.

Boss Lady's supposed spy was stalking the Brinewater Gang, had been for over a week.  Each morning, the auburn-haired beauty walked from Solitude and claimed a spot on the side of the main road, not too far from where it ran past the turnoff that led to Brinewater Grotto.  The silly goose must have thought that she was pulling the wool over everyone's eyes.  It was obvious to Boss Lady that the shapely lass was running a honey trap, hoping to lure one of the Brinewater Gang into her bed.  Why the lass was doing it was abundantly clear: she was a Blue Palace spy, sent by Falk Firebeard to find out about the gang's ship-wrecking operation.

So, Boss Lady decided to put a stop to that.

Instead, the only thing that was stopped was Boss Lady and her gang.

Where's Kareen?" Boss Lady shouted when she heard the sound of fighting suddenly erupt outside the hideout.  Even through the sturdy wooden door, she could hear the shouting of alarmed sentries, followed by the clashing of steel weapons.

"Haven't seen her, ma'am," one of her men called back as he raced to the door, sword in hand.

Boss Lady ran to where she'd ordered the captive woman to be held.  She'd put Kareen in charge of the spy....

"Damn it!" Boss Lady yelled angrily when she discovered that the prisoner was gone.  Her blazing, green-eyed gaze fell upon a folded piece of paper that lay on the pallet.  Snatching it up, she jerked it open and hastily read its contents.

I set this woman free.  She knows who I am, has known ever since she was a kid.  She saw us by accident, back when I was your new girl.  She didn't turn us in!  She wanted to be just like me!  All these years, and she never said anything.  My heart is telling
