📋 About This Mod
This mod was a request, and as usual I'm happy to oblige :)
Windbreaker Chapel is a free home, based on the Whiterun Hall of the Dead, located near Morthal, with a map marker enabled. It is styled to look like a monastery of sorts, for the player who leans towards a life of peace and meditation in touch with the Divines.
The place is simple and bare, but not bland (at least in my opinion, hah!). There are some crops outside, protected from rough weather by some rocks. A small lean-to houses some livestock; there is a stable with a horse, a smelter, alchemy table, a chopping block and a sharpening wheel for you to use.
Inside, I placed some living quarters and a study/meditating area. There are, of course, shrines to all the Divines, benches, and a lectern. I even squeezed in your very own Hall of the Dead, with skeletons (that will not attack you) and a table for offerings.
The place is fully navmeshed, but since there's only one bed, bringing along followers to live with you may prove tricky (unless you make them sleep with the skeletons...)
To install, place the files in your 'SteamSteamAppsCommonSkyrimData' folder. Then activate the mod through your preferred launcher by ticking the checkbox next to the esp. Let me know if there are any problems!
Windbreaker Chapel is a compact player home mod that adds a small chapel near Morthal. It has 241 endorsements and was last updated in 2015, making it a stable but older addition for players seeking a simple, lore-friendly dwelling.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 241 endorsements.
- Lightweight and simple—just a small chapel home, no bloat.
- Author Jokerine is known for quality housing mods.
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2015—may have compatibility issues with newer Skyrim versions.
- Small size means limited storage and amenities compared to larger home mods.
For Skyrim players who want a cozy, lore-friendly retreat near Morthal without the complexity of a massive player home. If you're a completionist collecting homes or a roleplayer seeking a simple sanctuary, this fits. Skip if you need extensive crafting stations or follower housing.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since it's an older mod, check for compatibility patches if you use other mods that alter Morthal or the surrounding area.
- Use a mod manager like Vortex or MO2 to easily enable/disable and avoid manual file conflicts.
- Visit the chapel in-game to see if it fits your aesthetic—screenshots can be deceiving.
