📋 About This Mod
i hate SKSE a lot, like a LOT a lot, and i will never ever make a mod with it, but i accept that a lot of modders rely on it for their mods, but there\'s a PROBLEM: it\'s ridiculous to set up for people who arent very tech savvy, and even more ridiculous to get it working with steam/big picture mode. so i made a really bad and dumb app at work today in my downtime that makes it MARGINALLY more acceptable to install/update/use with steam what it does: it lets you patch SKSE so that it is automatically loaded when you start skyrim from steam. you can do this manually but its a ridiculous pain and you have to hexedit and rename files and this just does it for you. also you can \"patch\" and \"unpatch\" it and it has some detection stuff in it so you arent writing over files inadvertently how it works (nerd shit): when you click \"patch\" it does 3 things: 1) renames \"TESV.exe\" to \"TES_.exe\" 2) copies \"skse_loader.exe\" and pastes it with the name \"TESV.exe\" 3) modifies \"TESV.exe\" (actually skse!!!) to launch \"TES_.exe\" (actually skyrim!!) instead of \"TESV.exe\" (not skyrim anymore, its actually itself now, most people would make an inception joke but i will not) and then just launch skyrim through steam and skse will get loaded automatically. you have to already have skse installed btw, this doesnt install it. if you install an update to skse or skyrim just click patch again and everything will be set up and patched again i highly recommend downloading with NMM because it will drop the patcher in the right folder so then all you have to do is run it
SKSE Patcher for Steam lets you launch SKSE-enabled Skyrim directly from Steam, eliminating the need to use skse_loader.exe or manually edit files. This utility is for Skyrim players who want the convenience of Steam integration with SKSE. With 6,078 endorsements and 96,426 downloads, it's a proven tool, though it hasn't been updated since 2013.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust (6,078 endorsements) — this is a go-to for many Skyrim modders
- Saves you the hassle of launching SKSE separately every time you play
- Simple concept, does exactly what it says — no bloat
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2013 — may not work with the latest Skyrim Special Edition or Anniversary Edition versions
- Only works with the original Skyrim (Legendary Edition) — not for SSE or AE
- Requires SKSE to be installed first, and you'll need to configure it properly
For Skyrim players who use SKSE and want the convenience of launching the game straight from Steam. If you're on the original Skyrim and tired of double-clicking skse_loader.exe, this is for you. Skip if you play Skyrim Special Edition or Anniversary Edition — this won't help.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure SKSE is installed and working before using this patcher — it won't work without it.
- After patching, you can launch Skyrim from Steam as usual, but verify that SKSE is actually running by checking for the SKSE version in the in-game console.
- If you're on Skyrim Special Edition, look for a different patcher — this one is only for the original game.
