📋 About This Mod
WoW. 12000 downloads. Many thanks to all who use this and endorsed. REMEMBER to post ANY new INI edits in the posts section so we can keep this up to date!
SKSE INI with tintmasks set to 2048 for the tattoos. I take no credit for this one either. Thank Tairensoul for it but I figured since it's not readily available and "I" could never figure out where it went I just made it a single download and safe with the current NMM install.
FINE. This is NOT SKyrim Script Extender (SKSE) It's an INI file FOR that program. Sigh.
SKSE can NOT be installed thru the Mod Manager. It is a FRONT END loader FOR Skyrim and thus HAS to be installed into the main Skyrim folder with TESV. EXE.
What SKSE does is allow for a LOT of cool and interesting mods to work with a MENU for customizations, enhance graphics capabilities, smooth video, etc etc...it depends on the PLUGIN you get to USE with Skse.
I hope I explained things a little better. Grumph.
Blessings to all. Gramps.

📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust (6,191 endorsements) — this is a go-to for many players
- Simple one-file install, no complex setup
- Boosts face texture detail to 2048, which is a noticeable visual upgrade
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2014 — might not be optimized for newer Skyrim versions or SKSE updates
- No detailed instructions or troubleshooting in the description
- Only affects tintmasks — doesn't address other INI tweaks you might need
For Skyrim players who want sharper face textures without diving into complex INI editing. Perfect if you're using NMM and just want a quick, proven config. Skip if you're on the latest Skyrim version or need a more comprehensive INI overhaul.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have SKSE installed first, or this INI won't do anything
- If you're using Mod Organizer 2, place this mod in the left pane and ensure it overwrites any other INI mods
- After installing, start the game and check your character's face in third person to see the improved tintmask resolution
