📋 About This Mod

NEWS: There is a new version of this mod that allows the audience to play random clapping animations, I recommend it over the older versions

Tired of the slow, sad/sarcastic clapping NPCs do when a beautiful song ends?

Well, wait no more, this mod changes the animation to one of the alternate applaud animations, not only they will raise their hands and clap fast, you will hear the difference in the sound.

This is a small mod I made out of the frustration of being unable to find a mod that dealt with the issue in a proper way.

For those interested in how it was done, it changes the idle animation "IdleApplaud3" and makes it play "IdleApplaud5" instead. Since all NPCs play the "IddleApplaud3" animation when the bard finishes, they will play "IdleApplaud5" instead.

This mod should be compatible with all expansions and the Unofficial patch mods. It won't be compatible with a mod that changes clapping animations (although if you have one of those I guess you won't need this one).

I've also added a 2nd file that allows you to choose which animation to play instead:

  • []The file contains 3 variants of the clapping animation. [/] []All 3 variants replace the same animation, the one used by most NPCs to clap slowly and bored. [/] []Only use 1 of them at a time or they will overwrite each other if you try to use them all. [/] []Don't use in combination with the .esp file [/]
If you aren't sure which one to use, you can use these console commands:

player.playidle idleapplaud2 player.playidle idleapplaud4 player.playidle idleapplaud5

*Note that you must not have a shield or torch equipped, since that prevents the animation to play.

Again, if you find any problem or bug with this 2nd file, let me know :) Also, kudos to friffy for giving the idea.

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

This small animation mod replaces the default clapping animation of inn NPCs in Skyrim with a more enthusiastic one when bards finish songs. It's a simple, lightweight tweak for players who want a bit more life in taverns. With 550 endorsements and 7,227 downloads, it's a community favorite despite its age.

✨ Key Features

Changes the clapping animation of most inn NPCs to a more enthusiastic version when a bard finishes a song.
Affects the majority of inn NPCs in Skyrim.
Lightweight mod with no additional dependencies required.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 550 endorsements and over 7,000 downloads.
  • Simple, focused change that enhances immersion without overhauling anything.
  • Works with the base game—no need for DLC or other mods.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2014—may have compatibility issues with newer Skyrim versions or mods that alter NPC animations.
  • Only affects inn NPCs' clapping; doesn't change other bard-related animations.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Skyrim players who love spending time in taverns and want a more lively reaction from NPCs when bards perform. It's a tiny immersion boost for roleplayers and those who notice small details. Skip if you're looking for major animation overhauls or gameplay changes—this is purely cosmetic.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Install manually by dropping the files into your Skyrim Data folder, or use a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 for easier management.
  • Since this mod is from 2014, test it with your current load order—if NPCs don't clap enthusiastically, try placing it lower in your load order.
  • If you use other animation mods, check for conflicts; this mod only changes one specific animation, so it should be compatible with most setups.
