📋 About This Mod
A Mod Organizer 2 plugin that automatically sorts your Overwrite folder and prevent files from ending up there.
What it does
When you run a tool, mod or game through Mod Organizer 2 (2. 5.x), anything the program writes goes into the Overwrite folder. Over time that folder fills up with outputs and you end up dragging files into the right mods by hand. Overwrite Sync and Prevent does that sorting for you. You write simple pattern rules once, and after every program you run through MO2, the plugin moves matching files out of Overwrite and into the mod you chose, keeping the same folder structure. It can also send selected files to the game's real Data folder instead, so they never live in Overwrite at all. You can also run the whole thing on demand with a single button, and share your rules with other people as a file.
Features
-
[]Automatic - Runs after each application finishes through MO2 (on by default, controlled by the Auto Sync and Prevent checkbox).[/]
[]Manual - A Manual Sync and Prevent button in the rules window runs a sync immediately, even when Auto is off.[/]
[]Sync rules - Route files from Overwrite into any mod, with different destinations for different files.[/]
[]Prevent rules - Relocate matching files into the game's real Data folder instead of a mod.[/]
[]Pattern based - Wildcard patterns such as .log or SKSE/Plugins/.ini.[/]
[]Folder structure kept - Files like SKSE/Plugins/x.ini lands at <mod>/SKSE/Plugins/x.ini.[/]
[]Empty folders handled - Empty folders that match a rule are recreated at the destination.[/]
[]Log summary - A one-line summary of what was moved, skipped or failed goes to the MO2 log.[/]
[]Create missing mods - When a Sync rule targets a mod that does not exist, the plugin offers to create it for you.[/]
[]Export and Import - Save your Sync and Prevent rules to a file, or merge someone else's rules into yours.[/]
[]Right-click menu - Add and remove rules from a right-click menu in the rule tables.[/]
How it works
A sync can start in three ways: a program you launched through MO2 finishes, MO2 refreshes its file data, or you press Manual Sync and Prevent. The first two only happen while Auto Sync and Prevent is on.If the file matches a Prevent rules, it goes to the game's Data folder, in the same relative path.
Otherwise, the Sync rules are checked from top to bottom. The first rule that matches decides the target mod.
Added Subfolder column, just in case you want to put the overwrite files into a different path within a mod folder.
If the file matches nothing, or the target mod does not exist, it stays in Overwrite untouched
After files are transferred, folders that were emptied by the move are removed from Overwrite, and MO2 is told that the affected mods changed so its view of them stays current. The scan keeps the MO2 window responsive while it works, which matters when Overwrite holds thousands of files. Only one sync runs at a time.
Exit codes. Many games and launchers exit with a non-zero code after a crash or when closed with Alt+F4. By default the plugin syncs anyway. Turn off the sync-after-failed-run setting if you only want a sync after a clean exit
