Mosaic Mod Manager

Mosaic is a native Linux mod manager designed to eliminate the typical challenges of modding on Linux while maintaining a user-friendly interface. Mods are staged similarly to Mod Organizer 2 and deployed via hard or symbolic links. The manager can also automatically configure the supporting tools your mod list needs to run.

Mosaic began as a fork of Amethyst Mod Manager and was rebuilt and renamed as an independent project.

If you like the application, just do me one simple favor, click that Endorse button in either the app or here on Nexus, much appreciated, thanks!

Key Features

  • []Mod Organizer-like interface: A familiar layout and workflow for those coming from MO2.[/]

[]Built-in game detection: Add a game straight from the in-app browser. No manual path setup is required.[/]

[]Collections: Install Nexus Mods collections directly. Accurate per-file metadata correctly distinguishes mod variants, uploaders, categories, and endorsement statuses. This feature does not rely on filenames alone.[/]

[]Skyrim AE/SE Collections are fully automated, no need to run manual or external downgrade tools or SKSE installs. It follows the Collection authors install scheme the same way Vortex does.[/]

[]Fallout 4 Collections follows the authors install scheme and is resolving the downgrade automatically, as well as F4SE. [/]

[]Baldur's Gate 3 has a native built in mod sorter. Some mods are decided by the user still, since not all mod author's have the necessary information in the meta.lsx file. (See uploaded screenshots, Mod Decision in BG3 and Mod Sorting in BG3).[/]

[]Skyrim LE/SE and Fallout 4 now have a NIF and Character viewer, where you can pick items from the NIF browser and attach to your body for a preview. There are limits, especially for Fallout 4. I don't emulate the game rendering, so some part might look odd, but the main goal is to be able to see what is overriding what in a mod list, and be able to sort out any crazy overlaps. Main target for tinkers, and collection builders.[/]

[]Native Linux application: Mosaic itself is a standalone Python/Qt app. It is not a Windows tool running under compatibility layers.[/]

[]FOMOD and BAIN installer support: The last selections are remembered.[/]

[]LOOT is built in natively for supported games. This feature includes userlist editing.[/]

[]Nexus API support: Fast metadata, versioning, and update checks are available.[/]

[]Load-order tools: Mod locking, conflict detection, and priority-aware reordering are available.[/]

[]Root Folder Builder: Deploy files straight to the game's root folder. Keep your staging folder clean.[/]

    []Save Runtime-Generated Files[/]

[]Configurations and shaders created by modders during gameplay are moved back into managed storage, ensuring that your settings are not lost.[/]

Games Supported

Mosaic supports a wide and growing list of games, including Baldur's Gate 3, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, the Skyrim and Fallout series, Starfield, Oblivion (and Oblivion Remastered), Morrowind, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 & 2, Resident Evil 2/3/4/7/Village/Requiem, Monster Hunter World/Rise/Wilds, Stalker 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and dozens more.

Mosaic also supports fully custom game definitions and isn't limited to the built-in list — see the Wiki for the guide.

Installation

  • []Download the AppImage (or Flatpak) from the Files tab.[/]

[]Make it executable and run it directly — Mosaic is a standalone application, no installer or Proton setup required to run the manager itself.[/]

[]Use the in-app "Add game" page to select and add the games you want to manage — no manual configuration needed for supported titles.[/]
