Mod Organizer 2 Support for Subnautica 2 (Basic Game Plugin)

This plugin is intended only as a temporary workaround until Subnautica 2 is officially supported by MO2.

MO2 doesn't support Subnautica 2 out of the box – this plugin fixes that. Drop it in, and you can manage your .pak mods the same way you would any other UE5 game, without touching the game directory.

Installation

• []Navigate to your MO2 installation folder.[/]

  []Go to plugins/basic_games/games/[/]

  []Place the file game_subnautica2.py in this folder.[/]

  []Restart Mod Organizer 2.[/]

  []Create a new instance and select "Subnautica 2" from the list.[/]

  Important Note: Please manually create an empty folder named ~mods before the first launch.

  In the game directory: ...\SteamApps\common\Subnautica 2\Subnautica2\Content\Paks\~mods

  This prevents MO2 from showing a "Directory not found" error in the logs.

    How to pack your mods for this plugin

    For the mods to be recognized, the folder structure in your MO2 mod folder must be flat: MO2/mods/YourModName/YourMod_P.pak

    Compatibility & UE4SS / Script Mods

    Can I use UE4SS and script-based mods? Yes, absolutely! However, this plugin is specifically designed to manage and virtualize .pak files.

    If a mod requires UE4SS (or is a script/DLL mod), you still need to install UE4SS. You can either install UE4SS manually into your game folder or use the "Root Builder" plugin for MO2 to manage UE4SS alongside this plugin.
