Vortex Support for Final Fantasy XIV (XIVLauncher)

This Vortex extension adds first-class mod management support for Final Fantasy XIV, specifically designed for use with XIVLauncher and the Penumbra plugin.

Unlike standard game support in Vortex, this extension does not use symlinks. Instead, it leverages Vortex's deployment engine to copy mod files directly into your Penumbra mod directory. This ensures maximum compatibility with Penumbra and Dalamud, as Penumbra manages all file replacement logic in-game.

  []Direct File Deployment: Vortex directly manages mod files, copying them into the active Penumbra mod directory upon deployment, and cleaning them up immediately when disabled.[/]

  []Automated Staging: All mods installed via Vortex are tracked in a dedicated staging area ensuring the mod list in Vortex accurately reflects only the mods you installed through the manager.[/]

  []Safe Cleanup: Vortex-generated metadata and backup files are explicitly excluded from deployment, preventing Penumbra from attempting to load non-mod data.[/]

    Mod Archive Structure

    To ensure Vortex can correctly manage your mods, archives must follow this structure:

    info.json            <-- Vortex metadata (Name, Version, Author, etc.)

    MyModSubfolder/      <-- The Penumbra mod root

    meta.json          <-- Required Penumbra metadata

    ...mod assets...

    Vortex reads the info.json at the root, and copies the MyModSubfolder/ directly into your configured Penumbra mod directory.

    Configuration

    On first activation, Vortex will attempt to auto-detect your Penumbra mod directory from Penumbra.json.

    If detection fails:

      []Click the Set Penumbra Path button (or use the toolbar icon on the Mods page).[/]

      []Select your Penumbra mod directory (the folder where Penumbra stores its meta.json subfolders).[/]

    This extension has been completely rebuilt from the ground up in order to fix all issues that were in the previous attempt. It has been thoroughly tested to ensure it is working correctly.
