Vortex Extension for FATE

This is an extension for Vortex to add support for FATE. This is available for the PC from Steam, GOG, and WildTangent, as well as the original game disc. The extension is only tested with Steam, but should be compatible with the other installations as well. This variant of the extension targets the original, 'FATE: OG'. You can see the TS, UR, and CK variants at their respective pages.

This extension is not intended for the upcoming FATE:RE (Reawakened), which uses a different engine and will not be compatible with any mods from the original games.

Game detection

The FATE game extension enables Vortex to automatically locate the installation directory from Steam's library.

It is also possible to manually set the game folder if the auto detection doesn't find the correct installation. A valid FATE game folder contains:

If your game lacks this file then it is likely that your installation has become corrupted somehow.

Requirements:

FATE doesn't support automatic mod installation normally. Please download and install Fate Patcher Core and install to the game directory manually.

When Vortex deploys your mods, it will prepare them for this utility; launch the tool from the tools category to integrate the mods into your game. You will be provided a link to download FPX Core when the extension loads, as well as when you deploy mods, if this utility's executable is missing from the game's root directory.

Mod Management

The mods will be deployed to the game's mod folder (the /mods directory) and will respect the folder structure within the archive file (which should be single-nested before the mod's patch file). To integrate the mods into your game, run the Fate Patcher Core utility.

Deployment method MUST be hardlink; the symlink method is NOT compatible with Fate Patcher Core's plugin loading system at this time.
