Sentinel - Class FFG (No sonar)

Without Towed sonar array extension Sentinel-class Frigate (FFG) The Sentinel-class is a 136-meter, multi-role escort frigate designed around one primary mission: dominate the undersea battlespace while remaining a capable surface and air-defense combatant. Built for modern carrier and destroyer task groups, Sentinel combines high sprint speed, low acoustic signature, and advanced sensor integration into a balanced fleet escort capable of operating independently when required. Stealth shaping, integrated mast geometry, and a smokeless CODLAG propulsion system give the ship a reduced thermal and radar profile while maintaining exceptional operational flexibility. General Characteristics Length: 136 m Beam: 19 m Displacement: ~7,600 tons Propulsion: CODLAG (Combined Diesel-Electric and Gas) – low acoustic signature Maximum Speed: 40 knots Cruise Speed: 29 knots (½ power) Armament 1 × 127mm naval gun 24-cell VLS (multi-role capable) 2 × Quad ASW torpedo launchers (8 total) CIWS / close-in defensive systems Medium-caliber secondary mounts Sensors & ASW Suite Hull-mounted sonar Towed Horizontal Projector Array (HPA) active/passive system Integrated mast sensor package Dedicated ASW combat management architecture The Sentinel is optimized for fleet-level submarine detection and engagement, with layered acoustic coverage and extended detection envelopes via towed array deployment. Aviation & Unmanned Capability Stern flight deck & enclosed hangar 1 × ASW helicopter 2 × Medium fixed-wing drones 1 ready for launch, 1 stored (disassembled configuration) Stern mission bay with boat launch capability The aviation component extends the ship’s surveillance and strike radius well beyond hull sonar range, enabling persistent over-the-horizon targeting and distributed ASW operations. Operational Doctrine The Sentinel-class is designed as: • A Fleet ASW Escort for carrier and destroyer groups • A high-speed response platform • A standalone hunter-killer frigate when deployed independ
