Quest Log
The game's map has a quest list, but it only shows the quests you are on and the ones you have finished. It cannot show you the 59 quests in the game you have not started yet. This does, in one window, with a tab for each.
What you get
-
[]Every quest in the game: in progress, not started, completed, or all of them together[/]
[]A count on each tab, so you can see how much is actually left[/]
[]Click any quest, including one you have never started, and read it without losing your place in the list[/]
[]The steps inside a quest, ticked off as you do them. Nothing else shows these, in game or out[/]
[]How far away the next objective is, in metres[/]
[]Colour-coded rows in the game's own style: gold for the main quest, blue for the one you are tracking[/]
[]Group by region or by main / side / task[/]
[]A "Counts toward" line on the ten quests that feed the game's own activity tracker[/]
[]Settings in Mod Menu, if you use it[/]
The steps inside a quest
The game tracks a set of flags for each quest you have started: spoke to Doric, crafted the mace, collected the rune essence. It never shows them to you anywhere. This reads them and puts them under the quest as a checklist, green when done. One quest in this game carries fourteen of them.
Activity progress
The game quietly tracks a handful of longer goals behind the quests: a tutorial percentage that climbs 17, 35, 54, 78, 100 as you finish the early quests, and one for each region boss (Velgar, Kuldra, Fuzan, Imaru and the Black Knight Titan). It never shows you any of it. Open one of those ten quests here and the log tells you what it counts toward and how far it moves you.
It is read-only
It reads the game's own quest data and never writes to it. It cannot give you a quest, complete one, tick a step or change your save. Deleting the folder leaves no trace.
Install
-
[]Install UE4SS for RSDragonwilds (it's in the requirements)[/]
[]Drop the QuestLog folder into RSDragonwilds/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/[/]
[]Load into a world, press Esc and pick QUEST LOG[/]
On Game Pass: use the BE version of UE4SS with the SCO signature, the normal build does not load there (thanks JourneyOver for testing). Game Pass also installs the game under Binaries/WinGDK/ instead of Binaries/Win64/, so the QuestLog folder goes in RSDragonwilds/Binaries/WinGDK/ue4ss/Mods/. If you install with Vortex, check that is where it ended up.
To remove it, just delete the folder. It changes nothing in your save.
Config
Everything is in config.txt in the mod folder:
ShowInPauseMenu = true
MenuKey = none
DefaultTab = active
GroupBy = status
ShowSteps = true
ShowDistance = trueMenuKey is optional if you would rather open it with a key than from the pause menu. J is the game's journal, so pick something free: I L N O T U Z are all unbound in Dragonwilds. Avoid F10 (the UE4SS console) and F11 (fullscreen).
Notes
-
[]Several quests share a name. The game has four called First Steps and three called Rune Mysteries, so repeats are numbered "First Steps (1 of 4)" to tell them apart.[/]
[]Quests you have not started have no step flags recorded yet, so you get the description instead. That is the game's data, not a gap in the mod.[/]
[]You cannot move while the window is open, which is deliberate: clicks and keys go to the window, not to your character, so you will not swing a weapon or walk off a cliff through it.[/]
[]The row markers are the game's own quest-list art, read from your installed game. The mod ships no artwork of its own.[/]
[]It only runs in worlds you host. I haven't tested it as a co-op guest.[/]
[]Haven't tried it with a controller either. If you do, let me know how it goes.[/]
[]Not sure it's running? UE4SS.log has a line starting with loaded v1. 0. 0.[/]
Tested on 1. 0: all 59 quests read in about a millisecond, every tab, the step checklists, the distances, clicking through a 52 quest list without it jumping back to the top, and opening and closing it twenty times over to make sure it stays stable.
