Chest Labels

Description

ChestLabels lets you give your storage chests your own names - Materials, Food, Ores & bars, Boss drops - and shows each name floating above its chest.

No more opening every chest to find your iron bars. Labels always face the camera and stay the same size on screen, so you can read them from across your base.

It also works in multiplayer: on a dedicated server with the mod installed, names are saved on the server and shared with every player who has the mod. Anyone can name or rename chests, and players who join later see all labels too.

Installation instructions

Players

• []Install UE4SS into RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\ (see Requirements).[/]

  []Download the ChestLabels-Client file.[/]

  []Extract it into your game folder (the one that contains the RSDragonwilds folder). The mod ends up in:

  RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\ChestLabels\[/]

  []Only if you use ue4ss\Mods\mods.txt: add the line

  ChestLabels : 1[/]

  []Start the game.[/]

  Dedicated server (optional - needed for shared names)

  • []Stop the server.[/]

    []Install UE4SS into the server's RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\ folder.[/]

    []Download the ChestLabels-DedicatedServer file and extract it into the server folder (the one containing RSDragonwildsServer.exe).[/]

    []Start the server. The server's ue4ss\UE4SS.log should show:

    v1. 0. 0 loaded.[/]

    The server file includes a small version.dll loader. The dedicated server never loads UE4SS's usual dwmapi.dll, so without it UE4SS (and every server-side mod) silently doesn't run. If UE4SS already works on your server, you can leave version.dll out.

    Uninstall: delete ue4ss\Mods\ChestLabels\ (and version.dll on the server if you added it).

    Main features

    • []Name any chest in-game - look at it, press F6, type a name, press Enter. Esc cancels; saving an empty name removes the label.[/]

      []Show / hide all labels with Shift + F6.[/]

      []Labels always face you and keep the same size on screen, visible for named chests within 40 m.[/]

      []Works on chests (normal, iron, small, personal), crates, barrels, lumber storage, ore storage, fishing barrels and tackle boxes. Decorative barrels and crates are ignored.[/]

      []Shared names in multiplayer:

      []Dedicated server: names are stored on the server and shared with everyone who has the mod.[/]

      []Hosting: your names are shared with the players who join you.[/]

      []Players who join later automatically receive all existing names.[/]

    []Names are saved in names.txt and survive restarts (on your PC in singleplayer/hosting, on the server for dedicated servers).[/]

    []Optional contents list - turn on SHOW_CONTENTS to also list what's inside every chest under its label.[/]

    []Safe to add or remove - pure Lua mod, no game files are replaced. Players without the mod simply don't see labels.[/]

    Good to know

    • []Names are tied to the chest's position - moving a chest loses its name.[/]

      []While typing a name, other mods' hotkeys still react (UE4SS reads keys directly).[/]

      Requirements

      • []UE4SS (tested with RE-UE4SS v3. 0. 1), installed into RSDragonwilds\Binaries\Win64\.[/]

        []Dedicated servers only: UE4SS on the server as well, plus the included version.dll loader (see Installation).[/]

        []No other mods required. Works alongside other UE4SS mods such as MiniMap.[/]
