Lesbian Princess Rewrite is a small-scale rework that generally only changes dialogue when necessary to avoid misgendering.

Description

This mod is a dialogue rework for Rastrum's Gender Swap (and auaurorau's Fix Patch) that's intended to provide a more cohesive experience for a lesbian Frey playthrough. I'd hesitate to call it comprehensive, given the miserable process of editing this game's text, but I've given myself at least one migraine from hours spent scanning through the dialogue file. Hopefully that means it's pretty thorough.

So, what's different?

I've completely rewritten all of the dialogue edits from scratch (well, from the vanilla text files). This includes a lot of fixes for gendered dialogue that wasn't covered by the older gender swap mods, such as everything related to pajama parties and the player's child. Broadly, the set of changes is something like this:

• []Swapped out pronouns/gendered terms for any Lest-specific dialogue to use feminine terms instead. Since this is a lesbian-specific rewrite, some gender-neutral terms like "spouse" have also been swapped for equivalent terms like "wife", if I thought it made the line read better.[/]

  []In cases where a simple word swap didn't make sense or felt clunky, I've rewritten conversations to make more sense in the context of the player being a girl.[/]

  []With respect to each character's personality, some of bachelorettes have lightly edited dialogue to make off-hand mention of the fact that they're both girls; I wanted these relationships to come across, at least in some small ways, as specifically gay rather than making all of the girls vaguely playersexual.[/]

  []The English Voices version of the mod edits/silences all of the bachelorettes' voicelines that refer to the player with masculine terms, and replaces all of the children's "daddy!" lines with the equivalent "mommy!" ones. It also silences all of Lest's voicelines in Newlywed Mode, so you won't suddenly hear his voice coming out of Frey.[/]

  []Since it's all in the same file, I've included some additional fixes for grammatical/text formatting issues I noticed in the vanilla dialogue. These are mostly unrelated to the other changes; consider it a bonus feature, I guess.[/]

  Some more specific, messier rambling about the mod's rewrites:

  Relevant lines of dialogue (particularly from more brazenly gay characters like Margaret and Pico) will sometimes draw explicit attention to the fact that their relationships are gay, but in general I haven't inserted much new text that addresses it outside of essential rewrites. Most people in Selphia will implicitly understand that you're Not Straight and just be chill about that fact, similarly to how the newer games handle it. To a point I genuinely consider this an accessibility mod, and I'd like it to be suitable for an otherwise vanilla first-time playthrough, so I've left as much of the existing dialogue untouched as possible. If you're looking for a lesbian rewrite that makes far more structural dialogue changes, Fae's Frey Fix has you covered these days. It's good!

  Leon's homophobia towards Lest is, obviously, completely rewritten for Frey. The new lines do still gently imply some amount of discomfort with Frey being gay, because frankly, I don't really think it's out of character for him to be working through some shitty ideas. That guy's old as hell. He just won't threaten to commit a hate crime anymore.

  Regarding broader dialogue edits:

  []RF4S changed Illuminata's nickname from "Ellie" to "Lumie". I think it's a fine change for the sake of clarity, but it was made pretty hastily. Newlywed Mode dialogue still says Ellie, and there's one instance where Amber says "I spy an Lumie!" because nothing was changed aside from the name itself. I've fixed all that.[/]

  []Typos/grammatical errors have been fixed wherever I noticed them, but in a script file with 100k lines I'm certain I haven't noticed all of them. In the current release, Clorica's day-to-day dialogue has received the most fixes because I noticed the most little problems there (and also because I love her).[/]
