📋 About This Mod

Restores vanilla gun finishers when an ADS attachment (Dot Sight, Scope) is equipped and you play with third-person aiming.

Scope Finisher Fix — Restore Gun Finishers with Sights in TPS

The Problem

In Resident Evil Requiem, installing an ADS attachment (Dot Sight, Scope, etc.) on a weapon silently disables gun finishers — the cinematic point-blank takedown animations that trigger when you fire at a staggered/vulnerable enemy up close.

This makes sense for first-person ADS: the camera switches to FPS when you aim, and the finisher is a third-person cinematic. But if you play in third-person aiming mode (the game has a native setting to stay in TPS with sights), there is no technical reason for the restriction — you simply lose a whole combat mechanic as a hidden downside of mounting a sight.

So you are forced to choose:

  • []Sight equipped: instant reticle focus, but no finishers[/]

[]No sight: finishers work, but you wait for reticle focus on every shot[/]

This mod removes that trade-off: with it, sights and gun finishers work together.

Why sights matter in TPS at all

ADS attachments are not just cosmetic. With a sight installed, your reticle is always fully focused — no waiting for the crosshair to tighten. A fully focused reticle significantly increases your critical hit chance (roughly 3x in testing) and stagger potential. That's exactly why losing finishers on top of it feels so wrong: the sight is one of the best TPS upgrades in the game.

What the mod does

The finisher branch is blocked inside the player's behavior tree by attachment checks. This mod makes those checks report "no sight installed" — but only while:

  • []a sight/ADS attachment is actually equipped, and[/]

[]a living enemy is within melee range (~1. 6m, configurable)[/]

Outside of that tiny window, nothing is touched: scope camera, zoom and aiming behave exactly as vanilla.

No cheats. All vanilla finisher conditions (enemy state, HP thresholds, angles, distances) are fully preserved — the finisher triggers only where it would trigger on a weapon without a sight. This is a restoration, not a buff.

Installation

Requires REFramework.
