📋 About This Mod
This mod gives you proper sensitivity settings on Controller. This includes separate aim sensitivity, separate vertical and horizontal sensitivity, a revamp of the in-game sensitivity setting. Turn around and aim at faster than a snails
This mod only works for Controller
The game uses separate game objects for the PC config, and you probably have no issues with mouse anyway.
The Problem with RE7 Controller Sensitivity
Resident Evil 7 has numerous problems with aiming on a Controller.
Most players already turn off the acceleration to get rid of floaty camera controls, however problems go further
-
[]only 11 levels of sensitivity in the settings with far too small range
[
]Horizontal and vertical sensitivity can't be set manually and the default has lower vertical sensitivity, leading to elliptical aim[]No control over deadzone, causing fine-grained adjustements to be difficult. The game uses roughly 25% deadzone and does not remap the remaining interval, so the inputs immediately jump to at least 25% camera movement once outside the deadzone
The first two problems are fixed by the main file, which is a REFramework script.
The deadzone can be removed with the optional file, which requires Cheat Engine to run. It zeroes the in-game deadzone. You can simply configure your own custom deadzone in Steam's Controller settings if you like.
What this Mod does
-
[]Set horizontal and vertical sensitivity multiplier separately in Script UI (Set to 1. 0/1. 0 by default, game default is 1. 0 / 0. 588)
[]Set aim sensitivity multiplier separately in Script UI (Set to 0. 5 by this mod by default, game default is 0. 4)
[]Revamp the in-game sensitivity setting. Increasing the setting by 1 increases sensitivity by 20% (multiplicative, can be changed in script UI). The game default uses 0. 1 additive.
This way, the in-game sensitivity setting can still be used and has more meaningful values. If you need to make a quick adjustment, the Script UI isn't accessible via Controller, hence this decision. Technically the in-game setting is not needed, since you can set the exact value you want in the Script UI instead. Pick whichever you prefer.
Installation
Install REFramework and extract the zip in the game folder. The zip contains the folder structure but just in case - the .lua file goes in reframework/autorun.
You may have to activate the script inside of REFramework UI.
For the deadzone one (optional file), install Cheat Engine and start the script. You'll have to do that every time you play the game.
Rant
It boggles my mind how a series with this much history that is developed Console-first, by Capcom of all things, has this horribly bad level of settings in-game.
