Requirements

- UE4SS installed

- Mods enabled in UE4SS

- (Optional) Summonable Traits mod, only needed if you want to spawn or add Trait / Core Trait / Archetype Trait items

Installation

1. Install UE4SS

Install UE4SS into:

...\Steam\steamapps\common\Remnant2\Remnant2\Binaries\Win64

After installation the folder should contain:

Remnant2-Win64-Shipping.exe

Game Pass / Windows Store install? See the Game Pass notes further down — the folder layout is different and needs an experimental UE4SS build.

2. Install the Unlocker Mod

Copy the included:

Remnant2Unlocker

folder into:

...\Remnant2\Remnant2\Binaries\Win64\Mods

Final structure:

Don't second-guess the exact file list inside Scripts\ — it changes between releases as features are added. As long as the Remnant2Unlocker folder you copied is intact and unmodified, it's set up correctly.

3. (Optional) Install Summonable Traits

Only needed if you want to spawn or directly add Trait / Core Trait / Archetype Trait items. Everything else works without it.

The app's Diagnostics window will report whether it detects this mod as installed.

Game Pass / Windows Store notes

The Xbox/Microsoft Store (WinGDK) build of Remnant 2 can't load UE4SS the normal way, so it needs to be hooked through a dwmapi.dll proxy instead. Use UE4SS v3. 0. 1 (the repo's rolling "experimental" build hasn't been updated since December 2024, so 3. 0. 1 is the one to grab). This changes where everything lives:

So for Game Pass, copy the Remnant2Unlocker folder into ...\WinGDK\ue4ss\mods instead of WinGDK\Mods. When browsing to the game folder in the app (step 5 below), still point it at the WinGDK folder itself — the app checks both Mods\ and ue4ss\mods\ automatically and will find the mod either way.
