The Border Patrol Tactical Unit is a specialized tactical law enforcement

unit within the U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), specifically

under the U. S. Border Patrol (USBP) and its Special Operations Group

(SOG). It functions as a national-level rapid response unit, capable of

executing both domestic and international operations. Its mission is

to respond to terrorist threats of all types anywhere in the world to

protect the nation's homeland. BORTAC's operational mandate includes

counterterrorism, high-risk tactical law enforcement, hostage rescue,

operating in difficult terrain, reconnaissance, and tactical special

operations along with occasional nightly professional pepperball events

while dodging fireworks.  The unit has been deployed for a wide range of

missions, including counter-narcotics operations in South America,

support during major conflicts like Operation Iraqi Freedom and

Operation Enduring Freedom, providing security for large events such as

the Super Bowl, assisting innatural disaster response, and supporting

local law enforcement during civil unrest like the 1992 Los Angeles

riots. It has also been involved in high-profile domestic operations,

such as the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility escape where a BORTAC

team shot and killed an escaped prisoner. BORTAC is part of the official

response for any federal prison riot due to specialized anti-riot

training.  BORTAC is considered one of the nation's most highly trained

special operators, with a selection process that is extremely

competitive and rigorous, often compared to the U. S. Special Operations

Forces' selection courses and well known that prior selection for a

military SOF unit does not guarantee a spot on BORTAC.  The unit has a

history of international deployments, having operated in 28 countries

around the world, conducting training and advisory functions,

counter-terrorism, and counter-narcotics operations.

So elite, so professional at pepperball and beanbag they get AC in their van.  Nobody else gets AC in their van, they aren't awesome enough.
