Save Keeper

Planet Crafter doesn't ask before you quit, keeps only a single version of each save, and gives you no quick way to undo a mistake. Save Keeper fixes all three. It adds quicksave/quickload, automatic rolling backups, and a confirm-before-you-leave prompt — so one stray keypress, one misclick, or one "wait, I didn't mean to overwrite that" never costs you hours of terraforming.

Everything is opt-in and configurable, works with keyboard, mouse, and controller, and runs as a fully standalone plugin with no other mods required.

What it does

Exit confirmation

- Quitting from the pause menu now asks first, with clear icons for each choice.

- Up to four options: Save & Exit to Menu, Exit to Menu Without Saving, Save & Quit to Desktop, and Quit to Desktop Without Saving.

- The "Save &" choices wait for the save to finish before leaving.

- Optionally skip the prompt entirely if you already saved during this pause.

Quicksave & Quickload

- One key to quicksave, one to quickload (default Numpad + and Numpad -).

- Writes to a dedicated quicksave file — your active save slot is never touched.

- Optional "are you sure?" prompt before a quickload, with a countdown timer to auto dismiss.

Rolling backups

- Every save automatically keeps the previous few versions (default 3), rotated behind the scenes.

- If a save ever corrupts or you overwrite the wrong file, a recent version is sitting right there.

Deletion backups

- Delete a save from the menu and Save Keeper quietly keeps a timestamped copy.

Tidy load screen

- Backups stay hidden so your load list never turns into clutter.

- Your quicksave appears clearly labelled "(Quicksave)".

- Optional last-saved timestamps on every entry.

Controls

In any prompt:

Up / Down ....... move selection  (arrows or D-pad)

Enter / A ....... confirm

Esc / B ......... cancel

Mouse ........... hover to select, click to confirm

During gameplay:

Numpad +  ....... quicksave

Numpad -  ....... quickload

Configuration

Open the config file (or use a config manager) to tailor everything:

- Turn any feature on or off independently.

- Rebind the quicksave / quickload keys.

- Set how many rolling and deletion backups to keep.

- Choose the default highlighted option in the exit prompt.

- Show or hide the Quit-to-Desktop options.

- Set the quickload confirm timeout (0 = wait indefinitely).

- Show timestamps, and collapse each save + its quicksave to the most recent only.

Recovering a backup

Backups live alongside your saves and are hidden from the load list. To restore one, open your save folder and rename the file to remove its marker — drop the " (backup 1)" or " (deleted ...)" part — and it reappears as a normal save you can load.

Installation

1. Install BepInEx 5 if you haven't already.

2. Extract this mod into BepInEx/plugins.

3. Launch the game once to generate the config file.

Compatibility

- Standalone — no other mods required.

- Built on BepInEx 5 + HarmonyX.

- Designed and tested for single-player.

- Plays nicely with other build and quality-of-life mods.
