📋 About This Mod
Share items between saves with a global stash. Doubles as a 150 slot pocket that is always with you. Now compatible with item stacking mods.
CACHE
One storage box, shared by every save you own.
Put something in on one world. Take it out on another.
Press \ (backslash) and it opens, anywhere, any time. It is the game's own
storage window, so it behaves exactly like opening any other container: click to move an item, hold
your accessibility key to move a stack, use the move-all arrow, close it however you normally close a
container. There is nothing new to learn and nothing new to look at.
150 slots by default. One stash per installation, shared by every save and every profile on it.
Compatible with item stacking mods, but I do not recommend storing tons of items in there until I have had a chance to make the capacity more robust. Stacks of 50 are most likely ok. I cannot guarantee more than that atm.
━━ THIS IS A CHEAT ━━
And it is presented as one. Nothing to unlock, nothing to build, no recipe, no progression gate. You
press a key and a box appears, and whatever you leave in it is waiting for you on your next world.
Obvious uses: seeding a new playthrough with a starter kit, moving a hard-won item between saves,
parking things you do not want to lose while you experiment, or just having somewhere to put the
If that is not what you want out of the game, this is not the mod for you, and no hard feelings.
━━ TWO THINGS TO KNOW ━━
1. The stash lives outside your saves.
It is one file:
BepInEx\config\Davemuziek - CACHE\stash.json
Uninstalling the mod does not delete that file. Deleting that file does not touch your saves. Moving
to a new PC is a matter of copying one file across.
2. Deposits and withdrawals are not final until the game saves.
The stash file and your save file are two separate things, and they only agree with each other at the
moment the game saves. In between, an item you have just moved sits half committed. Take something
out and quit without saving and it is gone; put something in and quit without saving and you have two
CACHE closes that gap for you. By default it saves the game whenever you close the stash and
something has changed, so the gap only ever lasts as long as you have the window open. If you switch
that off, save manually. The mod reminds you on close when it is off.
━━ SETTINGS ━━
BepInEx\config\davemuziek.planetcrafter.cache.cfg
• Hotkey (default Backslash). Opens and closes the stash. Any Unity InputSystem key name.
• StashSize (default 150, range 1 to 300). Shrinking this never deletes anything: entries past
the new size stay in the file, out of reach, and are written back untouched. Raise it again and
they come back.
• AutoSaveOnClose (default on). Saves the game when you close the stash, if anything changed.
Leave this on. See point 2 above.
• AllowClients (default off). Multiplayer, below.
━━ WHAT WILL NOT GO IN ━━
Anything that owns something else: a container with its own inventory, an object with panels, an
object linked to another object. The stash would have to export the whole tree along with it, and
that is not in this version. Try to put one in and CACHE tells you why and puts it straight back in
your backpack, or on the floor next to you if your backpack is full.
Items from a mod you have since removed are not lost. They stay in the stash file untouched and
reappear if you reinstall that mod.
━━ ABOUT YOUR ITEMS ━━
This mod removes things from your save file, on purpose. That is how the stash stays out of your
worlds. It also means that if the stash file were ever not written, your items would exist nowhere.
So CACHE is deliberately paranoid about exactly that:
• Before it lets a single item in, it writes a test item to disk, reads it back, and checks every
field survived. If anything is wrong, the stash simply refuses to open and says so.
• Every write is read back and compared, item for item, before it counts as a success. "The file was
written" is not the question. "Can I read my stash back out of it" is.
• It writes the stash as part of every game save. If that write does not verify, it leaves the stash
inside the save instead of dropping it. Nothing is lost, and the next load picks it back up.
• A stash file it cannot read is renamed aside, never overwritten.
Everything it does i
