📋 About This Mod
Vanilla pals work themselves miserable before resting - breaks only trigger at 65 sanity on a slow dice roll, one step from tantrums and sickness. This mod sends pals on breaks while still healthy and lets you read any pal's sanity from its
-
[]Fixed pals chaining "short breaks": wandering for minutes, recovering almost nothing, working for seconds, then breaking again (thanks Pouncival2). This was the game's own 90-second slack-off below 85 sanity, which the mod's faster break checks made fire about twice as often. It is now disabled outright. The proper break (72) and nap (67) are unchanged and both restore sanity.[/]
[]Verified on game 1. 0. 4: none of the break thresholds, durations or check cadence changed in the update.[/]
0. 2. 1 - Diagnostic logs
-
[]New: the mod now writes a diagnostic log each time you launch the game, in ue4ss\Mods\PalWellbeing\logs\. If something isn't working, attach the newest file to your comment and I can usually answer without a back-and-forth.[/]
[]
It records the mod version, the settings you're actually running, and whether both halves of the mod are installed. That last one matters: the PalSchema half is what makes pals rest early, so if it's missing you'll still see the break announcements while your pals carry on working themselves into the ground. The log now says so outright.
[/][]
Logs are named for when the session started and the 10 newest are kept; older ones are removed automatically. A crash no longer wipes the evidence.
[/][]Set MOD_LOG = false near the top of the script to turn logging off.[/]
The problem
Your pals grind themselves down before they rest. Vanilla only sends a pal on a proper break below 65 sanity - and even then it rolls dice every 90 seconds, so an unlucky pal can hit 40 before its nap. By that point the ugly tier is one step away: feed-box raids at 50, sickness at 40.
What this mod does
-
[]Breaks while still healthy: proper break at 72 sanity (vanilla 65), nap at 67 (vanilla 60), and naps restore to 77 before waking (vanilla 70). Same gaps as vanilla, shifted up - the miserable thresholds simply never get reached in a healthy base.[/]
[]Faster, fairer break checks: the game evaluates breaks every 90s at 50% odds; this mod tunes it to 60s at 65%, so pals rest near the threshold instead of far below it. The staggering stays - your base won't stop for a synchronized lunch hour.[/]
[]Stay informed: the corner log lets you know when a pal has been sent off to rest - by name, including variant pals (Mossanda Lux, Chillet Ignis...). Nicknames take precedence.[/]
[]Sanity on nameplates: look at any base pal to read its sanity on the overhead nameplate (a dev feature the game ships disabled). Ctrl+N toggles it.[/]
What it does NOT do
-
[]Nothing is persisted in your save: thresholds and cadence are data edits applied at boot, the nameplate flag and announcements are runtime-only. Remove the mod any time and everything reverts instantly.[/]
[]No assets replaced, no blueprints patched on disk - PalSchema data edits + a Lua script[/]
[]Doesn't touch hunger, work speed, or the sick/tantrum events themselves - those just become hard to reach[/]
Install
Requires UE4SS for Palworld and PalSchema 0. 6. 0+. Extract the zip into Palworld\Pal\Binaries\Win64\. That's it.
Compatibility
Single-player tested on Palworld 1. 0. PalSchema merges per-field, so this stacks cleanly with other PalSchema mods - including my Pal Work Prioritizer, which edits different fields of the same game-setting blueprint. Rest notifications are English; other languages get all the same behaviour with plainer notification text.
Tuning
All thresholds and texts are plain JSON/Lua at the top of the files - the notification lines, the break thresholds, and the check cadence are each one edit away.
Reporting a problem
The mod writes a log each time you launch the game, in ...\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\PalWellbeing\logs\ - one file per session, named for when it started.
If something isn't working, attach the newest file from that folder to your comment. It records the mod version, your settings, and whether both halves of the mod are insta
