📋 About This Mod

Each Pal improves the Work Suitability of the job it is actually doing at your base.

Progressive Work Suitability

Current version: 1. 0. 8

Your Pals get better at the jobs they actually do.

Every Pal slowly improves its Work Suitability by working. Put a Pal to work on a task and, over time, its rank in that job goes up. Progress is tracked per individual Pal and persists across sessions, so the Pals you use the most quietly become your best workers.

This is the standalone version: it changes nothing about which jobs a Pal can do. Pals keep exactly the work suitabilities their species was born with, and get better at those. If you want every Pal to be able to do every job, that is the separate "Total Overhaul" edition.

Two versions, pick ONE

- Classic, every job can be raised all the way to rank 10.

- Capped (base + 3), each job stops at its base rank + 3, so Pals keep their identity: a Pal naturally good at a job can push it higher, a Pal barely suited to it tops out sooner.

- Pals raise their Work Suitability ranks by doing the corresponding work.

- Per individual Pal, each Pal has its own progress, saved between sessions, and each world save keeps its own.

- In-game HUD: aim at one of your working Pals to see a panel with the Pal's real name, the skill it is currently working, its rank, and an XP bar, or "idle" when the Pal isn't working. It hides when you look away, and can be toggled with K (hud.toggleKey). The panel (and leveling) applies only to your Pals, base workers and party Pals, not to villagers or wild Pals (ownedOnly in the config).

- Works on captured humans as well as Pals.

- Fully tunable in Scripts/config.lua (progression speed, level cap, HUD position/size, on/off).

Configuration, what you can change (Scripts/config.lua)

Open Scripts/config.lua with any text editor (Notepad works), change the value, save, restart the game.

- FIRST_LEVEL_MIN (top of file) (default 4. 9): minutes of continuous work for rank 1 to 2, each rank then doubles; lower is faster

- cap (default 10): maximum reachable rank

- capAboveBase (default off in Classic, 3 in Capped): limits each job to (base rank + N)

- ownedOnly (default true): false = HUD/leveling also on villagers and wild Pals (old behaviour)

- hud = { enabled, x, y, scale, toggleKey } (default on, key K): aim panel on or off, position, size, and the key that shows/hides it

- applyEnabled (default true): set false to compute progress without ever writing ranks (preview mode)
