📋 About This Mod
Do you feel bored to game weapons constraints? Do you like something like a "COD Progression"? Do you wanna end the game with favorite your AK?
=== Weapon Proficiency ===
Current version: 1. 0. 10
The more you use a weapon, the better you get with it.
Description
Every weapon you carry gains proficiency as you use it: guns, bows, crossbows, launchers, flamethrowers, swords, katanas, clubs, pickaxes, axes, the Plasma Multicutter and the whole Terraria crossover arsenal, more than 300 weapons in total, each tracked individually with its real in game name. The more a weapon levels, the more damage it deals, climbing from its vanilla damage toward a ceiling for its category. Automatic firearms also grow a bigger magazine as they level. Progress is saved per weapon and per world, and persists across sessions.
How the XP works, in plain words: every weapon earns only by doing ITS OWN job. Guns and bows earn when your shots land on enemies (hostile towers included, but only while they are still standing: a destroyed tower pays nothing). Swords, katanas and clubs earn on combat hits. Axes earn on trees and ancient bark stumps. Pickaxes earn on rocks and meteorites. The Plasma Multicutter, being a multicutter, earns on both rocks and trees. Weapons with unusual damage, the flamethrower spray, the Meowmere and Nightglow projectiles, the Multicutter beam, are covered by a dedicated damage channel, so nothing you fight with is left out. Shooting your own buildings or scenery gives nothing.
DAMAGE follows the weapon's LEVEL: each level moves it a step from its vanilla damage toward its ceiling. The pace settings in the config change only how much XP a level costs, never the damage itself. Levels never go down: if you lower the pace values mid game, the XP a weapon has already banked instantly converts into new levels that stay. So tune the pace before leveling, or accept the levels you have.
The in game HUD
A compact panel shows the weapon in your hands: name, level, current damage bonus, magazine bonus, and an XP bar toward the next level.
Press H at any moment to show or hide it. The key is configurable (hud.hotkey), and it works even if you disable the automatic panel (hud.enabled = false), giving you a completely clean screen with proficiency shown only when you ask for it. Position and size are configurable too (hud.x, hud.y, hud.scale).
Two builds, pick ONE
Standard: magazines grow toward realistic ceilings. Most guns stay close to their vanilla feel, the gatlings climb from 100 up to a 600 round belt.
MagazineOP: magazines keep climbing far beyond reason. Every magazine weapon can reach 600 rounds, and the gatlings go all the way to a 4500 round drum, a full modern minigun ammunition case.
They are the exact same mod otherwise: the only difference is two values in Scripts/config.lua (magMaxAbsolute and magMaxByType), which you can change yourself at any time.
