What it does

  • []Every vanilla sound, by name. Tabs for Music, Menu & UI, Weapons, Magic, Creatures, Player & NPC, Doors/Chests/Traps, Environment & Weather, Cinematics, Other and Dialogue: the 28 music tracks, about 1,200 sound effects (5,700 audio files) and all 135,000 voice lines. Sounds carry the game's own names (obj_drs_chest_open, al_ui_menu_ok.wav), not numeric ids. Each tab shows 50 per page with a search box that covers the whole tab.[/]

[]Dialogue grouped by speaker. Open Sheogorath and all 320 of his lines are there, with the subtitle text, the topic, the voice type and the play length. Search by NPC, words in the line, topic, quest or voice type ("haskill", "orc female rumors"). Lines are per recording, and the tool tells you when a recording is shared between races (Dark Elf and Wood Elf lines use the High Elf actor, Orc uses Nord, Khajiit uses Argonian, Breton uses Imperial).[/]

[]Preview everything. Music plays from the game's mp3s; sound effects and voice lines are read straight out of the game's pak (read-only) and decoded in the app. Sounds with several variations expand so each variation can be previewed or replaced on its own.[/]

[]Replace with normal audio files: .mp3, .wav, .ogg, .flac or pre-made .wem. Any length, sample rate or channel layout. Converted to the game's Wwise format with Audiokinetic's own encoder, so the output is exactly what the game expects.[/]

[]Builds a patch .pak straight into your game. Your game files are never modified; delete the pak and everything is vanilla again.[/]

[]Package release ZIP: one click produces an upload-ready archive (pak in the ~mods layout plus a README listing the replaced sounds by tab) for publishing your own audio mod here on Nexus.[/]

[]Playlists: save which file goes on which sound, reopen it later, swap a few and rebuild without redoing the rest.[/]

    Requirements

    • []Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)[/]

[]Oblivion Remastered on Steam (found automatically, any drive). Xbox app / Game Pass installs are not supported.[/]

[]Wwise Authoring (free, about 2 GB) from audiokinetic.com. Needed to convert audio into .wem. Install only the Authoring package with the Windows platform ticked; skip the SDK, samples and documentation. Not needed if you only use pre-made .wem files.[/]

Why Wwise? The game stores its audio as Wwise .wem files. The encoder that makes them is part of the free Wwise Authoring suite, which cannot be redistributed with the tool, so you install it once and OBR Music Tool drives it in the background. You never have to open Wwise yourself. A step-by-step install guide is in the README.

    Installation

    • []Download the zip from the Files tab and extract it anywhere. No installer, no admin rights, no internet access.[/]

      []Install Wwise Authoring (see Requirements).[/]

[]Run obr-music-tool.exe. The game and Wwise are found automatically; use Find game or Browse if they are not.[/]

The exe is code-signed. A brand-new build can still get a SmartScreen "unrecognized app" prompt until it builds up reputation: More info > Run anyway, or build it from source on GitHub.

    Usage

[]Pick a tab and use the search box to find a sound. Play previews the original. In the Dialogue tab click the arrow (or double-click) on a speaker to list their lines; hover a line to read the whole text.[/]

[]Click Replace and pick your audio file. A sound with several variations gets the same file on all of them unless you expand it and replace them one by one. The Status column shows Edited for replaced sounds; Remove and Clear all do what they say.[/]

[]Build & install PAK writes OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks\zzz_MusicMod_P.pak into your game. Start the game and the new audio is live.[/]

[]Want to share it? Package release ZIP gives you an archive that installs through Vortex, MO2 or by extracting into the game folder. The zip's file name becomes the mod name.[/]

    [*]Save playlist keeps your selecti
