Finger of the Mountain - POWER

As Finger of the Mountain is available early on and obtained easily by any class, unleveled or auto-leveled spells make little sense as the highest level is rendered useless to any class other than a dedicated mage, even with costs reduced to spell altar equivalents. Again, due to the early and easy obtainment, simply lowering costs on the spells like the other leveled spells (eg. Wizard's Fury) feels unearned and dare I say, overpowered/"cheaty". Vanilla delivery feels underwhelming as most players obtain it under level 10 and it quickly becomes spellbook clutter despite the fact that Earana and Teekeeus hyped it up to be so much more. Not anymore!

With this plugin, Finger of the Mountain becomes an unleveled Greater Power. Earana repeatedly states it is a power, verbally and in writing, and we should respect her word on it. We now have the power to deliver Shock Damage on a target for 200 points in 10 feet at any level, once a day. As a power, Finger of the Moutain becomes strong and extremely useful to low levels but only in strategic situations as we cannot spam it. While it will become increasingly less useful to a dedicated mage, other classes will still find useful scenarios to use it throughout their story. Finger of the Mountain can now live up to its hype in a balanced, lore friendly way!

Already obtained a lower-level variant of the spell prior to installation of this mod? No worries, simply return to Cloud Top and strike it with shock again to retroactively upgrade your spell into the unleveled power. This mod only edits the level 26 variants record and the script where it is obtained so compatibility should not be an issue. Should a conflict arise, simply place this esp lower on the plugin list.

Installation

Extract/drop "FotM - POWER.esp" inside the OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\ folder.

In the same folder, edit Plugins.txt to add "FotM - POWER.esp" without the quotes somewhere below "AltarESPLocal.esp" and save.

Load your game save and enjoy!

Uninstallation

Delete "FotM - POWER.esp" from the OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\ folder.

In the same folder, edit Plugins.txt to remove "FotM - POWER.esp" and save.
