📋 About This Mod

Slows down time when killing NPCs and dying!

As per its name, this mod adds a little bit of drama whenever the player kills an NPC or dies!

Killing an NPC or dying yourself will slow down the game for a bit. The mod comes with a config file in which you can set up the following:

  • []slow: This controls the custom time flow.

1 is game default. Values between 0. 01 and 0. 99 will slow time. Values above 1 will speed time. 0 will completely stop time!

Mod default is 0. 2

  • []chance: This controls the % chance of the effect triggering.

Put a number between 0 (never) and 100 (always). Player deaths will always trigger the drama!

Mod default is 100

  • []delay: Time in seconds the game will display in slow motion for NPC deaths.

For player deaths, it will always be four seconds, the time the game shows you dying before showing the load menu.

Mod default is 1.

This value is multiplied by 1000 because the delay function uses milliseconds, so you can edit this number with a lot of freedom!

  • []distance: Max distance between player and killed NPC to trigger slow motion.

A value around 200 is recommended for close combat. Depending on your weapons, you might want to reduce or increase it a bit.

Leave it at 0 (Default value) to disable this option and always trigger the event

Player's death is "hardcoded" by design. I will not change that because I believe it is serious enough to die to always merit a fixed, longer slow-mo moment! You can edit that in the LUA file if you dont like it. Keep in mind that the ragdoll will do funny things in slow mo!

Since the game still considers it a combat hit, shooting arrows at corpses will trigger the effect! I tried to fix this, but it messed with the general behaviour of the mod, so I had to deprecate the fix.

An optional version including the same functionality as Jerome's HitStop is now available. With this file, Dramatic Death handles both HitStop behavior and its own. Since it can lead to some minor instability, I recommend getting this only if you want both mods working together. Sort of 😂

Please, note that if you downloaded V1. 4 of this, an update is available. Get 1. 4. 1 to fix the oversight that allowed every hit to trigger the HitStop effect!

It includes a series of configurable options:

  • HitStop: Set it to true (on) or false (off) to activate the functionality.
