📋 About This Mod
Name: Stagger Recoil and HitStop Version: 1. 0 Date: 2012/11/4 Category: Combat Requirements: Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) Author: Mitzi
Description =========== This mod has three functions - "Stagger", "Recoil" and "HitStop", and each function can be turn on and off by editing .ini file. "Stagger" How long the stagger animation is played is determined according to whether the target is blocking, target is hit with an arrow or with a melee attack, and the attacker is powerattacking. An actor winces under every strike. This function is applied to all actors. The length of the animation in each case can be adjusted by editing .ini file. You can no longer keep attacking regardless of the enemy's attack. "Recoil" How long the recoil animation is played is determined according to whether the attacker is powerattacking. This function is applied to all actors. The length of the animation in each case can be adjusted by editing .ini file. "HitStop" When the player hit someone or someone hit player with a melee attack, the time is greatly slowed down for an instant. (This is fake Hitstop to be exact.) Through this, you can clearly feel your weapon or fist hit the enemy. The length of the slowdown (Hitstop time) is determined according to whether the target is the player and the attacker is powerattacking. The length in each case can be adjusted by editing .ini file.

Stagger Recoil and HitStop is a combat mod by mitzi that gives players control over stagger, recoil, and hitstop mechanics. With 182 endorsements and over 6,000 downloads, it's a niche tool for fine-tuning combat feel, though its description is minimal and it hasn't been updated since 2014.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Tweaks three core combat mechanics in one mod—stagger, recoil, and hitstop—so you can dial in the feel without juggling multiple mods.
- Respectable 182 endorsements and 6k+ downloads show it's been tried and trusted by a decent chunk of the community.
- Being from 2014, it's likely lightweight and won't bloat your load order with scripts or dependencies.
⚠️ Cons
- No real documentation or feature list—you're flying blind on what exactly it changes and how to configure it.
- Last updated in 2014, so it may be outdated and could conflict with newer combat mods or game patches.
- Compatibility is a gamble—without a description, you can't know if it plays nice with other combat overhauls.
This is for players who want to fine-tune the game's combat feedback—specifically stagger, recoil, and hitstop—and don't mind experimenting without detailed instructions. It's also for modders who want a simple tool to adjust these mechanics without heavy scripting.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Since the description is sparse, test the mod on a fresh save or in a controlled area to see how it affects combat before committing to a playthrough.
- If you use other combat mods, try this one last in your load order to minimize conflicts, and be ready to tweak or remove it if something feels off.
