📋 About This Mod
Simple Inheritance adds an inheritance system inspired by The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, albeit by using a lazier simpler implementation. Instead of a courier delivering a letter, a humble message will appear when an eligible NPC dies, notifying the player of the death and the amount of septims inherited.
For an NPC to leave an inheritance for the player, the following four criteria must be met: first, the NPC must have talked to the player at least once. Second, the NPC's disposition toward the player must be above 70. Third, the NPC must be non-respawning. Last, the player must not be the killer. Furthermore, many quest-related NPCs have been accounted for and will not leave inheritances where it would not make sense, even if they technically meet the aforementioned criteria.
The formula for the amount of septims inherited is as follows: (iRandomValueBetween0And99 + (iNPCDispositionTowardPlayer 2) + (iPlayerLevel 5) + (bIsNPCInNobilityFaction 200)) fInheritanceMult. The player usually inherits 200-350 septims. The inheritance can be adjusted in the mod's INI file.
The INI also includes an optional blacklist to which advanced users can add NPCs to prevent them from leaving inheritances. This particular feature requires RuntimeEditorIDs to function. To be clear, it is only required if you plan to make use of this feature.
Compatibility
Simple Inheritance is a small and entirely scripted mod that should be compatible with everything.
