📋 About This Mod

More Immersive Sounding Weather MIS-Weather v0. 9 released 8/4/06 by PsychEroc NOTE: the new storm settings contained in the .esp file are NOT compatible with NE/NW, but the new sounds will work fine without the .esp and will work fine with NE/NW ****************************************** Better Storms! Experience rain and thunderstorms more intensely & immersively with 8 brand new high quality thunder sounds (distant & claps), enhanced OB weather sounds (wind, rain, thunder), and enhanced rain and thunderstorm settings (including more intensity and better variety of thunder and wind). Includes newer versions of some files included in Oblivion Stereo Sound Overhaul (OSSO) v0. 9. BACKGROUND *************************************** -For some reason vanilla OB weather types do not randomly select sound files very well. If you pay close attention, you\'ll notice that during any single thunderstorm you will only hear two thunder sounds played repeatedly: one thunder clap sound played repeatedly and one distant thunder sound played repeatedly. There should be more variety! For each new storm, vanilla OB randomly chooses which two sounds you\'ll hear, but during a single storm it does not randomly play a variety of sounds. Well, now it does! For each thunderstorm experienced with MIS-Weather, you will now have the possibility of hearing 4 different thunder clap sounds (randomly chosen from 8 different sounds) and 4 different distant thunder sounds (randomly chosen from 8 different sounds). -This mod is partly a way of showing off my Oblivion Stereo Sound Overhaul (OSSO) mod which enhances and adds variety to most of Oblivion\'s stereo sounds. Although most of the enhanced sounds included in More Immersive Sounding Weather (MIS-W) are also in OSSO, MIS-W has the newest updates with brand new thunder sounds (rather than just tweaked OB sounds)! COMPATIBILITY *************************************** -NEW SOUNDS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH: -x- Lightning Strikes During Storms mod -x- Real Thunder Sounds mod -STORM SETTINGS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH: -x- Natural Environments/Weather (but new sounds will work fine) -EVERYTHING IS COMPATIBLE WITH: -+- Oblivion Stereo Sound Overhaul (OSSO) by PsychEroc -+- More Immersive Sound by Deckard (as long as MIS loads before MIS-Weather) -+- Most other mods that don\'t affect weather or these particular sounds FILES INCLUDED ****************************************** - MIS Weather.esp - Necessary for getting more intensity and better variety of thunder and wind during storms. Feel free to delete the .esp and keep the sound files if you like them but don\'t want the .esp to conflict with other mods. - Enhanced OB sound files - Enhanced versions of OB weather loops, distant thunder sounds, and thunder clap sounds. Loops have been extended and edited so that they sound less \"loopy\". All included sound files have enhanced bass and stereo dynamics. These sounds

✨ Key Features

Adds more immersive weather sounds to Oblivion.
Includes new storm settings in an .esp file.
The new sounds work without the .esp file and are compatible with NE/NW mods.
The .esp storm settings are not compatible with NE/NW mods.

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Decent community support with 141 endorsements and over 11k downloads.
  • Flexible installation: you can use just the sounds without the .esp for compatibility.
  • Aims to enhance immersion for weather audio, a niche but appreciated touch.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2008, so it may be outdated for current Oblivion versions or mod setups.
  • The .esp storm settings conflict with NE/NW mods, limiting full usage for some players.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Oblivion players who want more atmospheric weather sounds and don't mind a dated mod. If you use NE/NW mods, you'll only get the sound files without the storm settings. Skip if you prefer modern, actively maintained audio overhauls.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • If you use NE/NW mods, install only the sound files and skip the .esp to avoid conflicts.
  • Place the .esp in your Oblivion Data folder and enable it in the launcher if you want the storm settings.
  • Test the mod in a rainy area to hear the new sounds before committing to a playthrough.
