📋 About This Mod

Ls More Butterflies and Fireflies Version: 5. 0 Created: 24/04/2010 by Leemonski UPDATE: 24/04/2010 Scripts for moving the statics around have been improved and are more efficient which should improve performance. Added new versions that remove Fairies for those that don\'t want them. They are in a seperate folder in the main folder. The textures and meshes are still required, unless you have the last version as they are the same. ============ INSTALLATION ============ Copy and paste or drag the . ESP file into your Oblivion Data folder. Place the Textures and Meshes folders into your Oblivion Data folder. Only use one .esp, do not use more than 1 at a time. ========== LOAD ORDER ========== Load after Oblivion.esm and other mods. ========= IMPORTANT ========= This is for Oblivion only, not Shivering Isles. I do not know if they will show up in Shivering Isles or not, but they probably will. I do not own Shivering Isles yet. Some lower end machines may find the increase in Butterfly and Firefly statics demanding. Also the way in which the statics are randomly generated uses a MoveTo command for NPCs that are disabled and quest scripts, and this could be taxing for lower end machines. Use the Halved or Quarter versions if you experience slow down or problems. Personally I have found no real difference in performance. ========= KOWN BUGS ========= When using \"Ls More Butterflies and Fireflies.esp\" you will see them inside Oblivion caves and towers. This is because Oblivion caves and towers are considered interiors. \"Not In Interiors.esp\" stops this happening, but also stops them appearing inside any interior, like the players home for example. Some clipping may occur if butterflies spawn near rocks etc, there is nothing much I can do about that. Also in interiors they can clip with walls. I have not tested for conflicts with other mods, but there shouldn\'t be any. Please let me know if you find any at all. ================ ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS ================ Bethesda Softworks. Kengon from Bethsoft forums who takes all the credit for the 4 new butterfly and 3 new dragonfly textures and meshes. Thanks Kengon! Phitt who kindly allowed me to use his fairies and takes all the credit for their creation. Here is a link to his mods on TesNexus http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=128339 And all those who help others on the Bethesda Forums. ================ WHAT DOES IT DO? ================ I decided I wanted to increase the feel of a fantasy world and make Oblivion more pretty. I have added randomly placed Butterflies, Moths, Fireflies, Dragonflies and Fairies that appear in a radius of 4000 units, which is just under the size of one cell. They will randomly appear and then disappear after a 10 - 50 seconds and appear somewhere else. There will be up to 22 Butterflies, 15 moths and 6 Fireflies, 6 Fairies and 4 Dragonflies withi

🤖 AI-enhanced — based on mod data

📊 Pros & Cons

✅ Pros

  • Community-approved with 275 endorsements and over 6k downloads.
  • Simple concept: adds ambient life to your surroundings without bloat.
  • Random movement keeps the scene lively without being distracting.

⚠️ Cons

  • Last updated in 2010 — may have compatibility issues with modern Oblivion setups.
  • Only affects the player's current cell, so you won't see these creatures across the whole world.
🎯 Is This For You?
For Oblivion players who want a touch of nature without overhauling the game. If you're into immersion mods that add small ambient details, this is a nice pick. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes or large-scale environmental overhauls.
📦 Install:Easy· Under 1 minute

💡 Beginner Tips

  • Since it's an older mod, consider using a mod manager like Wrye Bash or OBMM to keep your load order clean.
  • Check if you have any other mods that alter the same cells — conflicts could cause missing creatures.
  • If you're using a large mod list, test this mod early to ensure it doesn't clash with your setup.
