📋 About This Mod
DEVASTATION OF KVATCH REDUX – a mod by zymurgy65
====================================================
Guinefort1's Devastation of Kvatch mod greatly enhances the visual impact of the daedric assault on Kvatch by adding dead citizens, along with more guards and daedra. This is a simplified version of the “Scattered Weapons” variant, affecting only Kvatch and the Cheydinhal Oblivion realm featured in MS13, “The Wayward Knight.” Random Oblivion gates aren't affected, as I didn't want to be tripping over corpses all the time.
================
The number of dead guards has been greatly reduced. There were over 40 in the original mod, but even Kvatch Rebuilt features only 27 generic guards. One of the guards in Count Goldwine's quarters has been replaced with a second dremora, and the Count has been given a silver shortsword – I liked the idea of the old boy and his bodyguard selling their lives dearly. The bodyguard and a jailor are now identified as such.
Daedric casualties have been reduced somewhat. Dremora have been replaced with my own versions, mainly churls and caitiffs with a few of higher rank. All can now be harvested for daedra hearts. Many of the burnt bodies have been deleted. Some minor changes have been made to the dead citizens' inventories, and they're no longer tagged as quest items.
Many dropped weapons have been repositioned, and a few bodies have been moved slightly. Dropped shields have been added for many guards, along with dremora caitiffs and kynreeves. Blood decals and static arrows have been added, and all weapons and shields have battle damage.
Since several Kvatch citizens now have arrows in their bodies, I've added bloodstains to their clothes around the entry points. Alternate clothes meshes are provided for several body replacer mods - BAB, HGEC and Robert's female, and Robert's average male.
Blood decals use a darker, slightly brownish texture. If you don't like them, just delete the meshes and textures, then delete the changes to the .esp using TES4Edit (quicker than using the CS).
================
The fallen Knights of the Thorn have been reduced to the correct number of five. The bodies are placed to match Bremman's account of three being killed soon after entering the gate, with two more dying in a second skirmish at the base of the Citadel. One has been reduced to a charred corpse by a flame atronach.
Damaged shields and weapons have again been added. Blood decals have been repositioned where possible, and others added - look out for a bloodstained arrow on the ground! As at Kvatch, lower-level daedra are more common, topping out at a dremora Kynval and a clannfear.
OTHER CHANGES

As a little bonus, the two heads on pikes that previously appeared near the Gottshaw Inn have been disabled. I found it hard to believe that the Imperial

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Community-approved with 272 endorsements and nearly 50k downloads.
- Fills a lore-friendly gap by adding visual storytelling to Kvatch's ruins.
- Actively maintained, last updated July 2026.
⚠️ Cons
- Niche scope—only affects Kvatch and one Oblivion realm, so limited impact if you don't play 'The Wayward Knight'.
- No explicit compatibility notes for other overhaul mods that alter Kvatch.
- Requires the original mod by Guinefort1, which isn't linked here.
For Oblivion players who want to enhance the devastation of Kvatch with scattered corpses and weapons. If you're playing 'The Wayward Knight' or just want more immersion in Kvatch, this is a solid pick. Skip if you're looking for gameplay changes—this is purely cosmetic.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Make sure you have the original 'Devastation of Kvatch – Scattered Weapons' mod installed first, as this is an adaptation.
- If you use a mod manager like OBMM or Wrye Bash, install this after the original to ensure proper file overwrites.
- Check for conflicts with other Kvatch overhaul mods—load order matters in Oblivion.
