📋 About This Mod

Version 0. 51 Changes in 0. 51: stopped printing out excessive amounts of console messages adjusted settings so that the alternate mode was fully disabled by default instead of only mostly disabled This mod requires OBSE. forum thread: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=867564 This mod makes it so that you can not cast spells if both of your hands are full. Exceptions are made for some mage-themed items like staffs and conjured items (bound sword, bound shield). In effect, this means that fighter/mage hybrids are weaker, while straight fighters and mages are unaffected. Other mods to consider using with this: Casting Hand slightly encourages the use of staffs for spellcasters. Vanilla staffs are basically worthless, because they don\'t practice any skills. My own mod \"Staff Skill\" fixes this issue. Staff Skill can be found here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18509 Casting Hand discourages the use of shields by spellcasters. However, shields are an important source of enchantment slots in addition to their mundane purposes. The Mage Ward mod adds \"ward\" items to the game that occupy the same slot and can be enchanted, but do not count as armor. Mage Ward can be found here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14002 The specific conditions under which Casting Hand will permit you to cast spells: You may cast if the spell is zero casting cost or a lesser or greater power. You may cast if you have no weapon equipped. You may cast if your weapon is sheathed. You may cast if your weapon is a staff. You may cast if your weapon has zero weight. You may cast if your weapon is one-handed and you have no shield equipped. You may cast if your weapon is one-handed and your shield has zero weight. You may cast if you have the master level perk in the weapon type you have equipped. If you don\'t meet any of those conditions, you can\'t cast. There is an alternate mode this mod can run in where you get a chance of casting successfully even if your hands are full. The chance is determined by your weapon skill, your magic skill, your fatigue, and chance. To turn on this alternate mode, type in to the console: Set SpellGestures.constant_factor to 0 To turn it back off again, type: Set SpellGestures.constant_factor to -500 Smaller (more negative, or less positive) numbers decrease your chance of casting successfully, larger numbers (less negative or more positive) increase your chance of success. When in this mode, there are 4 settings that determine your chance of casting successfully. They are SpellGestures.constant_factor (default value -500, which turns this feature off; higher values turns it back on) SpellGestures.weapon_factor (default value 50) SpellGestures.fatigue_factor (default value 25) SpellGestures.random_factor (default value 25) Increasing the constant_factor, weapon_factor, or fatigue_factor will increase your chance of success.
