📋 About This Mod
Brings a comprehensive Blindness System to Oblivion!
DETAILS:
Morrowind, the previous game in the series, had spells such as 'Blind'. Many (classic) (RPG) games have 'Blind' spells, as well. This mod reimplements Morrowind's 'Blind' spells and mechanics into Oblivion. I have also added in the 'Boots of Blinding Speed'. I was fiddling with the Construction Set and other mods and after a while I discovered ways to actually achieve seeming true 'Blindness Gameplay Mechanics' in the world of Oblivion.
There are few other mods that add similar spells into the game already, but mine is a bit different. This is not simply an 'RNG' based effect. It truly affects NPCs in an immersive way and also affects Player Agency. You can read more on this below.
UNDERSTANDING BLIND SPELLS:
☛ Blindness is actually a vanilla mechanic in Oblivion, albeit underutilized:
-
[]'Blindness' is a value that determines the actor's disability to see the Player while the Player is hiding (sneaking without moving).[/]
[]0 is the default value, meaning that only the player's skill will affect whether sneaking is successful or not.[/]
[]100 means that the player can hide right in front of the affected NPC.[/]
[]This does not make the player completely undetectable as the actor affected by blindness can still hear.[/]
[]But as long as the player is not moving while in sneak, the actor won't know he/she's there.[/]
[]The actor also will not notice when the player steals an item, but will respond to being pickpocketed.[/]
...but the only vanilla NPCs who utilized this are the Blind Moths. NPCs who are Blinded by spells will now also have their Blindness set to 100, like Blind Moths. But when you blind a character with this mod, they will NOT behave like a Blind Moth, as the Blind Moths are accustomed to living life blind. Blind Magic doesn't work on Blind Moth Priests for this reason.
☛ Blind can only be successfully cast on targets that are not knocked down, not unconscious, and not paralyzed.
- []This is due to technical reasons which I'm currently unable to circumvent.[/]
☛ What 'Blindness' does to NPCs / Creatures:
[]NPCs will close their eyes due to blindness. Their eyes will be opened (Update3D) upon the end of the blindness effects. [/]
[]Weapons with Blind Enchantments do NOT make NPCs Update3D (open their eyes) upon the end of the effect.[/]
[]If the NPC is not in combat/moving, they will stay still and unaware for the duration of the spell.[/]
[*]If the NPC is in combat/moving, they will move forward for the duration of the blind spell.
