📋 About This Mod
Name: Beast Characters lose tails no more (formerly Argonians and Khajiit lose tails no more) Version: 1. 007 Category: Immersion Author: XJDHDR Source: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22734 Forum Thread: http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=166511 or click on the \"Discussions\" tab. Details ======= Have you ever installed a new mod to get a certain item but then found that this new item makes your Argonian/ Khajiit character lose their tail? Do two items from two different, or even the same mods use the same equipment slot, preventing you from wearing both at the same time? Well you have just found a solution to your problem. The first part of this mod/ patch basically modifies the items from selected other mods so that they don\'t use the \"tail\" slot on your character unless your character doesn\'t have a tail. An item using the tail slot is the reason why your character\'s tail disappears when certain items are equipped. The second part of this mod is to distribute the mod item slots so that two mod item won\'t use the same item slot (assuming those two items both use the tail slot), allowing you to wear both at once. The second part involves items which use multiple slots, one of which being the tail (at the moment, this consists of cloaks from \"Capes and Cloaks\" and guard cuirasses with capes from OOO) and removes the tail slot dependancy. For example, cloaks used to require the hair and tail slot, now it only requires the hair slot. Forgive me if you don\'t understand this description. Maybe the picture uploaded here will better explain what this mod does. This mod DOES NOT make items from other mods unusable and worthless. Instead, it modifies one specific property of the item in question so that it doesn\'t use the tail slot (if you are wondering what I am talking about when I mention the tail slot, open up the Construction Set. Then load the Oblivion plugin, or any mod, then look at a few pieces of clothing and armour. Every wearable item in the game works by replacing a body part of your character with that item. The body parts chosen to be replaced are dependant on which slots are selected). The installation instructions are fairly complex so follow them to the letter. This Oblivion patch prevents certain mods from removing Argonian or Khajiit tails, and also helps non-beast players by making mod items use different slots. With 85 endorsements and over 3,200 downloads, it's a niche fix for immersion-focused players.
✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Solves a real immersion-breaking issue for beast races (85 endorsements)
- Also benefits non-beast players by freeing up item slots
- Lightweight patch that's easy to add to any load order
⚠️ Cons
- Last updated in 2010 — may not be compatible with newer mods or game versions
- Only covers 'certain mods' — not a universal fix for all tail-removing mods
- No detailed documentation on which mods are affected
For Oblivion players who love Argonians or Khajiits and hate seeing their tails vanish when using certain mods. Also useful for anyone who wants more item slot flexibility. Skip if you don't play beast races or don't use mods that affect tails.
💡 Beginner Tips
- Place the patch after the mods it's meant to fix in your load order to ensure it takes effect.
- If you use a mod manager like OBMM or Wrye Bash, install this patch last to avoid overwrites.
- Test with a new game or a save before the mods are applied to see the tail fix in action.
