📋 About This Mod

The game's own quick-key radial made into a full controller wheel menu: eight slots of up to five items each, LT/RT to choose and RB or A to use, a Magic wheel of its own for spells, and an ammo wheel for your arrows while a bow is held. Y

Description

Improved Wheel Menu makes Oblivion Remastered's own quick-key radial into a full wheel menu. Each of its eight slots

holds several items, chosen with the triggers and used with RB or A; spells get a Magic wheel of their own, and with a

bow held an ammo wheel puts your arrows a button away. You fill the wheels from the inventory and the magic menu with Y.

It works inside the game's own radial: the wheel picture, the button prompts and the quick keys are the game's, and

nothing of the vanilla interface is replaced. It is made for the controller - the radial is the game's controller

wheel. On keyboard and mouse the game's own quick keys work as before.

Main features

The inventory wheel

- Eight slots, several items each. Hold D-pad down, the game's quick-key button, to open the radial and point

with the right stick (or tap it to keep the wheel open until the next press). Each slot holds up to five items

(uEntriesPerSlot in the INI).

- LT and RT choose, RB or A use. The triggers step through the items of the pointed slot, and a counter under

the wheel shows which place the shown item has and how many the slot holds. RB or A uses it and closes the wheel.

- Nothing is used by accident. Pointing alone never uses anything, letting go of the wheel button uses nothing,

and B closes the wheel.

- Centre rest snap (on by default): with the stick back at rest in the middle, no slot is pointed, so letting go

of the stick never picks one by mistake. It can be turned off, and its time set, in the INI.

- Two wheels on one button. D-pad left and right switch between the inventory wheel and the Magic wheel, and the

wheel's name is shown over it.

Putting things on the wheel

- Y makes a favourite. Y on an item in the inventory, or on a spell in the magic menu, makes it a favourite and

puts it on its wheel - in a slot that already holds its kind of item, else the first slot with room; Y again takes

it off. A star in the list marks every favourite. Armour and clothing become favourites without going on the wheel

(shields go on it).

- Favourites are kept safe. A favourite cannot be dropped, sold or handed over in a container or barter list.

- Place it yourself. Hold D-pad down in the inventory or magic menu for the game's assign panel, point a slot,

choose its place in the slot with D-pad left and right, and press A.

- The game's sorting moves from Y to the left stick click.

The Magic wheel

- A wheel of its own for spells, always drawn as itself - empty slots included - never showing the inventory

wheel's pictures.

- A pick sets the spell you cast. Choosing a spell makes it the one the cast button casts, and the HUD's

quick-magic picture follows it.

The ammo wheel

- Your arrows, a button away. With a bow held, D-pad right (by default) opens a half wheel on the right-hand

edge of the screen with the arrows you have put on it (Y on arrows in the inventory), one kind of arrow a slot. The

right stick or D-pad up and down point, the button again or A equips, B closes.

- Rebindable from the game's own Controls page. The ammo wheel has its own row on the controller Controls page,

so its button is set where the game's own buttons are. It can also be turned off or resized in the INI.

Settings and cost

- Settings in one INI file. ImprovedWheelMenu.ini holds the few settings there are: entries per slot, the rest

snap and its time, the ammo wheel on or off, its button and size, and the log level. There is no settings page and no

menu framework to install.

- Light on the frame rate. The wheel's button rules run inside the game's own controller read; the game's menus

and widgets are looked for about five times a second, and the slot counter and the favourite stars are redrawn at

most ten times a second (at once after a change).

Installation instructions

- Install with your mod manager, or drop the archive's OblivionRemastered folder over the game's own: everything goes

under OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64\OBSE\Plugins\ (ImprovedWheelMenu.dll, its symbols, ImprovedWheelMenu.ini and

the ImprovedWheelMenu folder with the favourite star's fill pic
