📋 About This Mod
Auto Local Map improves the map experience in Oblivion Remastered by automatically opening the local map when you're inside interiors, dungeons, or cities.
Normally, opening the map (M key) shows the world map first, even when you're exploring a dungeon - which is annoying. This mod fixes that by smartly detecting whether you're indoors or outdoors and adjusting the map view accordingly. No more manually switching to the local map every time you enter a building!
What this does:
- If you're outside, it opens the world map like normal.
- If you're inside a dungeon, city or interior, it automatically shows the local map view.
- Auto zoom out feature. By default, when you switch from local map to world map the zoom in level is maxed out. The mod will automatically zoom out to the configured value.
- The mod is configurable. For example, you can disable the local map from opening automatically in cities, disable map centering or auto zoom out. Config file can be found in AutoLocalMap\scripts\config.lua. Cities and dungeons are enabled by default.

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust: 5,075 endorsements and 312,929 downloads show it's widely used and appreciated.
- Solves a common annoyance: no more manually switching to the local map every time you enter a building.
- Lightweight and simple—does exactly what it says without bloat.
⚠️ Cons
- Only affects indoor areas; you'll still need to manually open the world map outdoors.
- May conflict with other UI mods that alter map behavior (not specified, but always a risk with UI tweaks).
This is for explorers who constantly dive into dungeons and cities and hate the extra click to see the local map. It's also great for completionists who want to track their surroundings without interruption. If you're a casual player who rarely goes indoors, you might not notice the difference.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you use other UI mods, test this one early to ensure no conflicts with map-related features.
- Remember that this only affects indoor locations—outdoors will still open the world map as usual.
